Favorite Old Fashioned Gingerbread

I just took my first bite of this "cake", with a few adjustments and it is FANTABULOUS!!! I added 1/2 cup of applesauce, 2 tbs of veggie oil, 3 tbs of xtra water, a lil more then doubled the spices, 1 and 1/4 cups of molasses. It is so moist, tasty, just the right amount of spice and will certainly become a favorite here. Think I am going to make a cream cheese, whipped cream with grated apples and some lemon juice for the icing. OH and I used brown sugar all the way.

Chocolate Date Cake I

I love this cake!! I did make most of the changes suggested by others. I cut the cocoa down to 2 tsps, used brown sugar and added vanilla. I think next time though I will add more nuts to it. Not overly sweet, but enough to satisfy your sweet tooth.
