Quinoa and Black Beans

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2011
I accidentally jumped the gun and added all the ingredients after the onions were cooked. I think it was a great error because this dish was delicious, not gluey like some other reviewers claimed. I think it has great flavor and is a perfect basic recipe that can be altered in soooo many ways.

Mexican Bean Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2010
Best ever!!! I made a batch of this and took it every day for work. The only substitutions I made were to use a great variety of dried beans that I cooked and I substituted honey for the sugar to make it healthier. This is going to be added to my family cookbook. Thanks for sharing!

Ham and Bean Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2009
I tasted this as I went along and it got better and better with each new thing that I added. It was so good before the diced tomatoes that I never even added them. I'll save that for another time. I think you could easily use this as a base recipe and just keep altering it for a variety of flavors as the mood strikes. Thanks for sharing.

Braised Collard Greens

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2009
I was a little skeptical of the sugar in this recipe and tasted it at intervals to see how the sugar blended. By the time it was done cooking you would never know there was sugar in it. The only things I will change when I make it next is to leave out the salt pork and use smoked hocks. I also chose to leave out the red pepper flakes and the vinegar because I used Tobasco sauce which is my personal favorite.

At first I thought, "Really. What's the big deal? How good can it be!?!" Well, it really IS a big deal. It was soooo moist. My family went CRAZY over this! I will never make turkey any other way!!! Even my husband, who doesn't say much, raved about it!

I would give this more stars if it were possible! Everyone who tries them raves! I like to cook from scratch and I don't mind a challenge but when I find something that tastes as fantastic as these and are this simple to make it's crazy to look any farther.

Brownie Biscotti

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2003
I tried this out last week for a party and I'm making it again this week for another party. It was a great success. However, I agree with some of the suggestions to bake for 5 minutes the second time instead of the longer amount of time given in the recipe.

Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2003
I WILL NEVER USE ANOTHER BARBECUE SAUCE AGAIN!!! I've even run short on a few ingredients and I compensated by adding more of a similar (ie: less ketchup more chili sauce) and it still comes out just as good. You just can't mess this recipe up!

Holland Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2003
I was completely unfamiliar with these cookies when I decided to make them. I picked them because they looked easy and basic. At first I thought I did something wrong because the cookies flattened out dramatically and became lacy looking. Once I tasted them I decided mistake or not they were a success. The only drawback to me was the amount of excess butter but I put the cookies between layers of papertowels and the problem was solved. This is a GREAT addition to my recipe collection. Thanks for sharing.
