Crispy and Creamy Doughnuts

Reviewed: May 11, 2008
I wouldnt go as far to say they are as good as KK but they are definitely an excellent homemade donut. After frying all the donuts I fried the donut holes and then rolled them in a sugar-cinnamon mixture. The only change I made in this recipe was I did not have any shortening so I used canola oil instead.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2008
I used the half crisco, half butter, half light brown sugar, half brown sugar, mexican vanilla, no cocoa powder and baked them just until the cracks formed. I basically used the advice of several of the most helpful reviews for this recipe. I froze the mini pb cups too. This is excellent. 5 stars and beyond. I believe I may have just found my favoritest cookie ever.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2008
Wow. I made the dough the night before and wrapped it up in saran wrap and put it in the fridge. The dough broke through the saran wrap! I punched it back down and placed it in a rubbermaid container and 8 hours later it had pushed the lid off the container! I really liked this dough. My kids LOVED it. The crispy edges were great. I really like the fact that it was a good dough to make ahead of time but make sure you put it in a container instead of saran wrap!

Kentucky Butter Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2008
This cake is ok by itself but the butter sauce is a MUST! I used a silicone bundt pan and sprayed it with cooking spray. It came out beautifully after cooling for about 20 minutes.

Baked Asparagus with Balsamic Butter Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2008
If I could give this more stars I would! I switched the soy sauce and balsamic vinegar around and doubled the recipe. Definitely brown the butter. This is an excellent recipe and if I could drink the sauce I would. It is that yummy!!!

Hershey's® White Chocolate Cinnamon Scones

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2008
Wow. I have never had a scone before but I had cinnamon chips and wanted to make something different with them. I didnt have lemon zest and maybe it adds something to the recipe but it didnt sound good to me to be honest. I didnt have cream either so I just brushed the tops with good ol whole milk. I drizzled melted hugs AND the cinnamon chips on top. For those of you who have never had a scone, it is somewhat like a biscuit but oh so much better! I am definitely keeping this recipe in my file.

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2008
This was yummy! I was a little skeptical when there seemed to be alot of liquid but the baking takes care of some of it and the rest will thicken after it cools. I cut the sugar back some and left 1/4 of mt dew in the can. I think I could have used all of it but the amount of liquid at first really scared me. Will make again but I bet it would taste even better with homemade crescents. Ofcourse I'll be trying it with a recipe from here. :)

Creamed Chipped Beef On Toast

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2008
I grew up adding the beef as soon as the white sauce was started! Maybe thats why it never tasted salty to me or anyone else who has ate it since its soaked in the "gravy" for a little while. I also add lots of shredded cheese and make the sauce cheesy. My family absolutely loves this. Cheap and easy meal.

Chili I

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2010
I followed the recipe as is other than cutting back the sugar some and not so many cans of beans. We made it the night before and let it simmer in the crockpot for a few hours before retiring it to the fridge. The next day we placed it back in the crockpot and believe me, the wait was worth it. Trust the other reviewers when they say the next day is much better!! I was even skeptical the night before and was worried I may have wasted a lot of ingredients. I will make this again and again.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2008
I will never ever buy a box mix ever again. I doubled the recipe and baked for 25 minutes. Added about half a cup of mini chocolate chips. Doubled the frosting but added a splash of milk. Then melted white chocolate and drizzled that on top.

Bacon for the Family or a Crowd

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2008
This is the only way I make bacon now. I found that microwaving bacon made it too crispy and I would burn it if I tried making it on the stove top. I put the oven temp at 400 and use a jelly roll pan (raised edges) and I spray it with pam prior to placing the bacon slices in the pan. After the bacon is done I drain the grease through a strainer and save it in the fridge to use it for other recipes like making homemade dog biscuits! If you havent tried bacon in the oven you should try it soon! You can make all the other goodies while the bacon is in the oven! How easy is that? Not to mention cheaper than the ready to serve bacon in stores.

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2007
Great cookies! I followed some of the other reviewers suggestions like not softening the butter. I used a 1/8 teaspoon to put holes in the cookies and I bought a squeezable bottle of seedless rasberry spread. Yum!

Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2007
Ok like I am a super star in my family now. Everybody loved it. The white meat was gone before the dark meat. That is unheard of. The white meat was extremely juicy and flavorful. This was sooooo easy. By the way I didnt have veggie broth so I justed 2 1/2 large cans of chicken broth. I also didnt have very much sea salt but I figured since the broth is salty anyways it would be ok. So yeah this recipe rocks and anytime I ever make turkey this will be the way I prep the turkey. I cooked it using the Safeway 2 hour turkey method.
