I'm an Advanced Technical Business Analyst for a banking services/software company. As a busy working mom/wife, I love coming to this website for quick and easy dinner ideas.
My favorite things to cook
Desserts! Cakes, pies, cheesecakes, trifles, ice cream, candies of all kinds. If I'm invited to a potluck or it's a holiday celebration, I'm expected to bring dessert ;-)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cajun blood runs deep in our family, so we have weaved several dishes, such as dirty rice and boudin, into our Thanksgiving and Christmas menus. We also enjoy having crawfish boils, with red potatoes and corn, and also my mom's chicken and sausage gumbo. Served with potato salad and lots of french bread, it can't be beat!
My cooking triumphs
Not necessarily a triumph, but something I really enjoy each year is preparing lots of Christmas goodies (truffles, sugar cookies, fudge, almond toffee, etc.) to be auctioned off via a silent auction at my husband's company. They raise money every year for a family in need, and his co-workers love my stuff. He comes home with stories about the bidding wars that take place, which I get a kick over; but, at then end of the day, I'm just really happy that we've helped bring joy to a family that needed it.
My cooking tragedies
Hate to say it, but I don't think I've had one (knock on wood). Closest I've come to a tragedy is years ago when I dropped a cake that I was pulling out of the oven and it crumbled in the pan. I froze the cake pieces and later used them in a trifle. Then I just made a new cake :-)
