Cheddar Cheese Straws

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2011
Excellent recipe as is. Few ingredients, easy method, tasty results. Terrific Super Bowl treat! I needed to bake 10 minutes to get the right crispiness.

Light Oat Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2012
Excellent basic recipe as is, but also terrific with a few healthly additions. In consideration for my Type II diabetic husband, I tossed in a couple of tablespoons each of flax seeds, millet, sesame seeds and cornmeal. This adds heft to the loaf with complex carbs (digested more slowly) and a protein boost as well. Thank you for a wonderful recipe!

Blueberry Loaf Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2012
The perfect blueberry cake - moist, dense, sweet and delicious enough for company. The crisp cinnamon sugar crust is a tasty touch. Simple ingredients, quickly put together, and bakes nicely beside a roast for dinner. Save energy! My loaf took about 65-70 mins. to bake, but it seems ovens are like people - unique! Try a slice smeared with a bit of butter. With a nice cup of Early Grey? Yum!

Chocolate Strawberry Shortcake

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2012
Excellent, light shortcake which acts as the perfect base for fresh, local strawberries. The texture is that of a delicate scone. I plopped eight mounds of dough onto a silicone sheet lined cookie sheet and baked for 10 minutes, so I could make individual mini shortcakes. I used 35% whipping cream with the sweet strawberries. The hint of cocoa is FABULOUS! Great idea! This receipe is quick, easy, tasty, and is bound to become one of my "go-to" summer desserts for years to come - so I thank you kindly for sharing it with us.

Bread Machine Rolls

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2012
Perfect basic dinner roll recipe. Made these last night and served along with chili. Yum! Broke my own rule of never substituting when trying a first time recipe - no powdered milk. Used 3/4 c. warm milk and 1/4 c. water. Easy, delicious, inexpensive! What more can one ask? Thanks for sharing!

Pumpkin Roll Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2012
Easy, delicious light cake base with yunmmy cream cheese filling. Reminiscent of carrot cake - but lighter with no added fat to batter. Intend to wow the rest of the family tomorrow for Thanksgiving. Of course I had to trim the ends for my husband and I for dessert tonight, right? Can't have raggedy ends, right? Methinks this will be our new favourite! New twist? Any plain-cooked winter squash would stand in admirably for pumpkin, if unavailable.

Very Best Blueberry Cobbler!

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2012
Delicious fall/winter dessert. I used frozen mixed berries and baked for 35 minutes to a perfect golden brown. Next time (and there will be a next time) I'll cut the sugar by 1T for the batter and 1/4 C. for the berries, as we decided the original recipe to be a bit too sweet for us. Thank you so much for sharing with us.

Pumpkin Pecan Biscotti

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2012
Followed the recipe precisely so that it could be judged on its own merit - and it's terrific! Delicious crispy biscotti - with a delightful hint of pumpkin pie. Low fat, too, so that's a bonus. Biscotti keeps forever - but you probably wont' need to know that...they're too darned good to last! My advice? Don't change a thing if you want pumpkin pecan biscotti - otherwise look for another recipe. Thanks so much for sharing. These cookies will be a Christmas present for a friend living 3000 miles away - so they had to be "built tough"... :) Bonus #2? The house smells like an upscale bakery...nice!

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2012
Made this tonight to be part of our Christmas feast tomorrow. Naturally I had to trim up the edges, so we got to taste the cake before the crowd tomorrow ;) Absolutely divine with no changes or substitutions. Loved that it didn't have pineapple! Thank you so much for sharing this terrific recipe. There's even enough icing left over for use with - oh, perhaps muffins. I can just imagine a dab on top of my freshly baked apple oatmeal muffins. Mmmmm... p.s. Now I'll have to cut back on the turkey and mashed potatoes so I'll have room for cake! Ah well, one must make sacrifices, eh?

Baked Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2013
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful recipe. Having had dental surgery I needed something soft and nutritious to eat. All I could think about was my grandmother's rice pudding...and here it is! It is exactly the same and a warm bowlful brought back wonderful memories from over 50 years ago. How nice is that?!

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies I

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2013
Perfect old-fashioned oatmeal raisin cookie - crisp on the outside, chewy on the inside. Quick & easy! I followed the recipe exactly and couldn't have asked for a more delicious result. Nothing like a wonderful homemade cookie with a nice hot cup of tea or a cold glass of milk! This recipe was exactly what I was searching for, and I'm so glad I found it here. Thank you so much for sharing with us!

Belle's Hamburger Buns

Reviewed: May 22, 2013
Excellent taste and texture. Simple, inexpensive ingredients. Holds its shape well when fully loaded with the hamburger patty, etc. The egg wash adds a eye-appealing gleam to the buns. I eliminated a few steps by using my stand mixer and dough hook with bread machine yeast. I microwaved the milk/water mixture to warm and then proceeded as though using the bread machine - liquid, butter, flour, salt, sugar, yeast. I substitued one cup of whole wheat flour for one cup of all purpose. This recipe probably costs less than $2.00 to make at home and turns out the most delicious hamburger buns you've ever tasted. You'll amaze and delight your friends at your next BBQ...just as I intend to do. :)

German Potato Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2013
Old-fashioned potato pancakes, just the way you remember them! Grate potatoes into egg mixture to prevent darkening. Minced green onions might be a colourful change especially for St. Paddy's Day next March.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2013
Perfect basic recipe that mixes up into a thick batter resulting in delicious, light pancakes every time. Additions of berries, fruit or spices to taste, are all easily incorporated, but these pancakes are divine all on their own with a bit of butter and syrup or jam. I think it's worthwhile to make them plain the first time you try this recipe so that you'll know how good homemade pancakes should taste without any other tasty distractions.
