Fudgy Chocolate Cream Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2011
This pie is AWESOME!! Yes, that's right 2 exclamation marks worthy! I'm typing this as I sit with a post eating 1/4 of pie tummy ache. Did not change a thing. Perfect chocolatiness, texture, taste, help up nicely. Topped this fudgey goodness with the Meringue II recipe from this site The meringue didn't stick too well, but who cares the pie was excellent with or without the topping. I'm a very green chef and I find this hard to mess up. Cooked the chocolate custard for about 8 minutes and it was thick and left it a little longer just to be sure (even though I was aiming for 15 min as another reviewer suggested, but I don't think that was necessary).

Lemon Coconut Loaf

Reviewed: May 24, 2011
Excellent flavor! If a mild lemon-slight coconut flavor is what you're looking for, this is it. If you want something more lemony follow some of the other reviews. For my house this was perfect. The loaf turned out very moist. Do NOT leave in oven for the full time because it'll come out dry. My (cake?) loaf was done around 46 minutes

Neiman Marcus Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: May 23, 2011
My GOD these are addicting! Filled them into a tablespoon for 'portion control'. Yeah right. Instead of eating 1 or 2 cookies I'm eating 1, 2... 6... then you know it's all bad when my mom has to close the lid so I don't eat more. Followed the recipe exactly (except for sugar free choco chips) and with my tablespoon scoops yielded a little over 3 dozen cookies. It's a hit in my family. My dad bit into it and the first thing he said was "mmmmm... mocha!" followed by grabbing a few more. Okay so see a pattern?

Coco-Scotcheroo Cookies

Reviewed: May 7, 2011
Well, learned my mom does NOT like butterscotch... but everyone else in my house loved it! My mom had to stop my dad from having too many. He liked the idea she didn't like it so there's more for him. Score 1 for dad! However, the great thing about this recipe is that butterscotch can easily replaced with chocolate chips. Score 1 for mom! Sorry dad.

Green Slime Smoothie

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2011
I use this for the base of my smoothie recipes. I love it because it really fills you up! Started out with the original recipe (still 5 stars) and catered it to what I usually have on hand. I use 1/2 frozen banana, 1 - 1 1/2 cups spinach, 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, 4 frozen strawberries, 1/2 cup milk and a bunch of ice. Whiz it up and drink it all for breakfast

Cranberry Pistachio Biscotti

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2011
Yes, they're crumbly but who cares...these are the tastiest biscottis I've ever had! Added a teaspoon orange extract, dipped bottoms in semi sweet chocolate chip. My friend ate one and gave it to her husband, both said they were very divine and asked for the recipe. Thanks Gerry!

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2011
Tempted to say I will never make another chocolate chip cookie recipe again. Best one I've ever made. I don't share these with my friends. They stay in the house.

Mexican-Style Goulash

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2011
Was stuck at the hospital. Browsed this site for a few hours, saw this recipe and got the URGE to make it... glad I did! The fam bam loved it. I doubled the recipe so there was plenty to go around and it only lasted for 2 days. Will make again

Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2011
Never had stuffed peppers in my life and really wanted to try this out... not too bad but I felt like it lacked complexity. I mean, rice and ground beef whoopdidoo. No one in my family were really impressed. I guess we're not a stuffed pepper lovin family

Apricot Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2011
Eh, these were ok. I'm biased because I've grown up in asian cuisine and I've tasted better. But if you're on the go and need something kinda tangy, this is it.

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2011
Best. Pancakes. EVER. This deserves 10 stars. Better than any restaurant I've ever been to. My mom, dad, sister, gramma, and mom's friends all raved about it! Make sure to at least triple the batch... these babies won't last.

Cocoa Banana Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2011
Love me some banana and chocolate! Perfect little cupcakes (or in my dad's case, ginormous muffins). Flavor wise they were pretty good. For some reason mine wasn't as moist as other reviewers said, I probably should take out faster because they were in cupcake cups.

Excellent! If I ever feel bored and want to show off to my family or a cute guy I'll make it. If not, I'm going to Winco.

Coconut-Avocado Ice Cream

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2011
Coming from the 'I didn't know we had an ice cream maker when I made this until after I made it' perspective, so I mashed it into slush every 2-3 hours: SOOOO not worth the extra effort. I felt like I was back in the olden days mashing the ice cream to feed my starving family of 7. Taste-wise: VERY delicious (hence the 5 stars)! I'm sure if I made it in the ice cream maker it would have been wonderful. My mom didn't care for it. It was like eating a snowball. Next time I'll put in the ice cream maker :)

Pasta e Olio

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2011
Needed a simple recipe that complemented the "mother-in-law's tongue" birthday pasta my sister bought me. I didn't want a sauce that 'covered up' my pasta. Loved the simplicity and flavors! Whole family loved it. I ALWAYS add in meat so I put in a pound of Italian sausage. Yummy...not to mention a lot of fun with the pasta!

Simple Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2011
I guessed "browning sauce" was something like soy sauce so I added a tablespoon of that instead. I'm so used to my mom's salisbury steak I thought this was missing something. Maybe something nutty? But for a first-timer I was so proud of myself when I was done. I was just happy they actually turned out like salisbury steak! Will use this for my base recipe

Quick and Easy Tuna Casserole

Mmmmmm comfort food :) My dying gramma got upset when she learned I was making this for dinner and she got hospital food. Yes, impress even your pickiest loved ones. Sprinkled some bread crumbs on top and baked at 350 for 15 min and voila!

Ten Minute Enchilada Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2011
Since I don't really have authentic enchilada sauce to compare with... from a gringo-asian standpoint this was delicious! I use this for all of my enchilada recipes. Yes, it's HOT. Good for my mom and me, bad for the sister and dad. Either turn down the chili powder or give your loved ones a glass of milk.

Mexican Rice II

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2011
Tasty! Nothing fabulous and mind-blowing, but like another reviewer said, this rice compliments other dishes. As a request from my mom, I put this rice under the enchiladas I made and baked them together. She thought I pansied out and got a box recipe and was surprised I could cook something this good. Great combination!

Fast and Friendly Meatballs

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2011
Very awesome base recipe! Made about 25 of these little suckers because I rolled mine into smaller meatballs. Used turkey instead of beef (I never use beef, but if you do use turkey make sure it's NOT 99%) and turned out wonderful. My sister took the whole tupperware of my meatballs to work before I woke up. Note to self: store in the corner of the fridge behind milk so I can have lunch the next day.
