About this Cook
I have loved to cook since I was 9 or 10. It is the thing about "just me" I feel the most passionate about. Maybe when my kids are grown and our business is running it's self I can go to culinary school.
My favorite things to cook
I love trying new dessert recipes. My favorite from allrecipes.com is the Strawberry Torte. Yummy! I am also pretty darn good at kitchen sink recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Pie! I make the best fruit pies; I use the Better Homes and Gardens recipe for crust and it is always perfect. I think what makes my pie good is I never use as much sugar as called for and always use tart fruit
My cooking triumphs
My mom would say lasagne, my brother would say blueberry pancakes, my husband would say anything I make and my kids would say chocolate cake.
My cooking tragedies
There have been more then I can mention here. :(

Butternut Squash Bake
This was delicious! I would say that it is very rich and as a side dish may be a bit too heavy. I made it for a vegetarian friend and he loved it. The fresh thyme really adds to the flavors. Yummy!

Asian Lettuce Wraps
This recipe is very close to what I was looking for. I added one Thai chili with the garlic and fresh cilantro and mint at the end with the green onion. As I prepare it the recipe gets 5 stars. Yummy!

Love the Mama Lemon Bars
Yummy! The shortbread crust was just what I was looking for and the balance of sweet and tart is just right. I did do as previously suggested and doubled the filling and increased the baking time by 5 - 10 minutes.
