Chocolate-Covered OREO Cookie Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2014
super rich. my family loves it. i don't like using box cake mixes, so i followed another review and used dark chocolate cake II. i also doubled the number of oreos called for in the recipe. make sure not to pulverize them. you want big chunks.

Dee's Mexican Rice

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2005
This was very good. Easy to make and I didn't have to buy any extra ingredients. It makes enough for our family, which is nice. I followed the recipe exactly.

Spinach and Rice (Spanakorizo)

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2005
I love this stuff. You simply have to use the lemon and feta cheese. It's great the next day, and the next, if it lasts that long. Delicious.

Poor Man's Sandwich

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2005
I couldn't believe my eyes when I read this recipe. This was a staple of mine in high school (minus the onion, though. Never have been a fan of the raw onion.) I have to admit that I loved telling my friends "what I was in the mood for" and watching their faces. Actually, I'm a mother of four and I still love telling my friends that I'm hungry for this sandwich and watching their faces. I'm a dill pickle fan. Heavy on the mayo, heavy on the peanut butter, heavy on the pickle...Delicious!!

Tastiest Cookie Ever

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2004
Although I think the name is a bit exagerrated, these are quite good. They are not too sweet and I didn't feel as guilty eating 4 in a row, warm from the oven as I would chocolate chip cookies, because they are so nutrient dense. They aren't your traditional American cookie, but if you like cardamom and dates, it's a good one to try. All I did differently was to substitute pecans for the walnuts. I think they tasted best eaten warm the same day.

Braised Chicken Breasts in Tasty Mirepoix Ragout

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2004
Absolutely delicious. My husband would complement me after every bite. I love it that it has this delicious, thick gravy that you don't have to make with butter, flour and cream. I followed ingredients exactly. For salt and pepper to taste, I added 1/2 tsp of each. Since I used store-bought broth, next time I'll nix all the extra salt (for chicken and for sauce). Simmered exactly how long they suggested but it was still too watery so I boiled it on high for another 30 minutes (on top of the 120 minutes) and it was perfect. The chicken is amazingly tender and the flavor of it all is superb. We served it over mashed potatoes and were sooooo pleased.

Naan

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2004
We love this recipe! It is soooooo good. You have to try it on the grill, as indicated. I thought it would make this horrible mess, but it worked perfectly (definitely oil your grill first). It takes about 20 minutes to grill all the bread up. We normally eat it with Indian dishes with lots of gravy to sop up but it is equally good with jelly globbed on and eaten as a pastry-esque type thing.

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2004
This is the only pizza sauce we use now. It's so simple to make fresh every time, and so delicious, why use store bought? Seriously, it only takes 5 minutes to throw together. I need to cut the red pepper flakes out for my husband's sake, and I put about 1/2 tsp of salt (it just says "to taste", this happens to be my "taste"), and only 1 Tb of honey. We often have just cheese pizza and can really enjoy the flavor of the sauce. It helps if you have a small whisk when you're mixing the sauce. We always only have shredded Parmesan and it works great.

Spam on the Go

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2004
There is definitely a stigma on Spam here in Oregon. While I was preparing this recipe my friend came over and thought it smelled so good until I told her what it was. She then gave me this "You're actually going to feed that to your family?" look. Anyway, about the recipe: very good, very simple and very tasty. My 2 small children, my husband and I demolished it in one sitting. Simple recipe that uses pantry ingredients you have on hand. Good for those "It's-6oclock-and-I-don't-know-what-to-make" nights.

Adrienne's Tom Ka Gai

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2004
Absolutely delicious. I read through all the reviews and used their suggestions. only 1/4 tsp red pepper, 3 Tb fish sauce, added 1/2 lb shrimp, used 2(14 oz) cans coconut milk and 3/4 c. chicken broth (instead of 1 can coconut milk and 4 cups water), cut lemon grass in long strips and removed prior to eating, added rice noodles. My husband can't handle spicy dishes and he said this was perfect. I describe it as "warm". If you like it spicy like me, add more than 1/4 tsp red pepper. Definitely recommend it! My husband who, in general, doesn't like Thai food, said we should have this again. Oh! one more thing...fresh lemon grass is available in almost any asian market.

Drip Beef Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2003
Most flavorful roast beef we've eaten. My husband finds most roast recipes bland. He loved this one. I cut the roast into large chunks (about the size of my fist) which let the flavor permeate all the meat, not just the outside layer. Also I cut down the oregano to 1tsp as suggested. Delicious!! I shredded the meat and put it on toasted hoagies with slices of cheddar. Super easy and lots of leftovers. Try it!

California Grilled Veggie Sandwich

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2002
This was absolutely delicious!! One serving filled me up. We grilled the veggies on a tin foil platter sprayed with olive oil and it worked great. We grilled them for 7 minutes a side also to make sure the onions were soft and a bit carmelized. (We don't like them raw.) Try it!!

Grilled Garlic Potatoes

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2002
Absolutely delicious. Have tried it just following the recipe and with the mushrooms added. Good both ways. The mushroms make it a bit more watery and not as crisp, though. We are going to make it again and again.

Greek Bifteki

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2002
Very very good flavor combination. The burgers were really moist and delicious. One note of caution. Make sure that you cook them all the way through. We had two dishes on the grill at once and so the burgers cooked a little too fast and weren't done all th way. A keeper!!
