31 year old full time working mother of 2 beautiful girls, 12 & 5. My husband and I have been together 15 years, married 8. The very first thing I learned to cook by myself was when I was around 7 years old and mastered fried eggs. Needless to say there was more than enough for breakfast when everyone woke up that morning! :)
My favorite things to cook

My favorite family cooking traditions

My cooking tragedies
Around the brave age of 9, I was home alone and hungry. Fried rice sounded really, really good at the time. Going to the pantry, I grab white rice and soy sauce. Making my way to the refrigerator, I pull out onions and carrots. Piling it all next to the stove, I pull out my mothers large Iron Skillet from the oven and add some oil to saute the onions and carrots. While the petite diced carrots were still a bit firm, I decided it was time to "fry" the rice, hence the name mind you. I add 2 cups of dry white rice and doused with soy sauce. I was so proud of myself! It was going so perfectly, so i thought; then the phone rings. I answer and it is my mother. She says "what is all that popping noise i hear?" I simply told her that I was making fried rice. She started laughing hysterically and politely asked me to turn off the burner on the stove. I did get the entire explanation when she returned home on how to make fried rice. Lesson learned "Don't always cook a recipe by the name" :)
