I'm pretty much a novice bread-maker, and this turned out perfectly for me. The inside was soft and fluffy while the outside was crunchy and golden. Following others' suggestions, I reduced the sugar to about 1/3 cup. I'll probably try the full sugar amount sometime if I'm looking for more of a dessert than sandwich bread.
I also brushed the top with an egg and water mixture, so that gave a waxy texture to the top, and made sure to turn the pan around halfway through to ensure even browning.
I'll definitely be using this recipe again, especially since it can be made within an evening.
