About this Cook
I'm a college student at the University of Missouri in Columbia, but I've been cooking since I was in grade school.
My favorite things to cook
Baked sweets, mostly, especially things which require a lot of detail. I also enjoy making comforting "homestyle" food reminiscent of large family gatherings or holidays
My favorite family cooking traditions
German gingerbread every Christmas, smoked salmon during the summer
My cooking triumphs
Boston cream pie that didn't fall apart, cookie boquets, asparagus that tastes good
My cooking tragedies
I took chocolate chip cookies out of the oven too soon and placed them onto a wire cooling rack, and all the cookies crumbled between the wires!

French Apple Pie with Cream Cheese Topping
Not very good warm, but pretty good after it was in the fridge overnight. I think 45 min might be a little too long in the oven, because the edges are kind of tough compared to the rest of it, so if I make it agian, I'll try 35 or 40 min instead.

Too Much Chocolate Cake
Wow, they're not joking when they say there's a lot of chocolate! I even put chocolate frosting on it... I think the cake was excellent, and the only thing I'll do differently next time is leave out the chocolate chips. I felt like with the frosting (with any frosting, really) the chocolate chips don't fit in right. I think I might try this recipe again, doing everything the same, except omiting the chocolate chips and putting in a can of cherry pie filling instead, so it could be like a cherry fudge cake.

Boston Cream Pie II
I was very pleased with the outcome of this recipe. I needed more chocolate to coat the cake, so I doubled the chocolate coating part. The cream turned out great, and the cakes were light, fluffy, and delicious. My only complaint is that it took so long to make and was eaten up so fast! Very impressive looking and delicious, will make it for a holiday/family gathering.
