I really like this recipe; just like what mom used to make...or at least how I remember it.

made with half shitake, half white button and a couple tablespoons of dried porcini. And beef broth instead of chicken.

Cream of Asparagus Soup I

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2004
Absolutely delish! I agree...4 teaspoons of chicken bouillon powder. Everyone is right, it doesn't NEED the 1/2 and 1/2 but adding it makes it SO good ;) I'm going to try to use this as a basis for a homemade cream of tomato soup. Mmmmmm!

Chocolate Chip Orange Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2004
I made 21 muffins out of this recipe (filled the muffin tins to the brim) and baked for nearly 25 minutes. I poked holes in the tops of the muffins while they were still warm and drizzled an icing sugar/orange juice glaze, suggested by another reveiwer, over the tops of the muffins. OH WOW were these a taste sensation! I also found it best to add another tablespoon of orange zest.

Banana Bread IV

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2004
VEGAN VERSION I used flax seed n'eggs instead of the eggs (Grind flax seeds in a coffee grinder...1/4 cup seeds pre-grinding per 3/4 cup cold water...1/3 of that mixture makes 1 n'egg...so make sure you use enough for the eggs called for). I used non-hydrogenated vegan margerine. Earth Balance. YUM! I used one extra banana for extra moistness. SO good. SO dense. SO moist. Quite easy. OH, and I used mostly brown sugar as well.

Hot Cross Buns I

This is a really great recipe. I followed it to a T except that I made 16 rolls, not 12. Really good....and good HOT right out of the oven.

Mexican Rice III

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2007
Perfect Mexican rice every time. Sometimes I add more peppers to heat things up, but usually the rest of the meal is where the spice comes in.

Ginny's Cheezy Macaroni

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2004
This was the easiest thing ever to put together!!!!! I made a few additions, though, as my family likes a doctored up macaroni and cheese: I added six hot dogs (sliced) to the macaroni. I added a small can of diced tomatoes, 1 Tablespoon of prepared mustard and 1/2 tsp of Worcestershire sauce and 2 Tablespoons of diced onion to the milk before I poured it over the top. I also added a bit more cheese (a 1/2 cup more???). Otherwise, I did everything according to the directions. It was quite moist with a nice crust of browned cheese on top. The flavour was FABULOUS and all in all we really liked it. We don't usually eat a baked macaroni and cheese, but this was SO easy and SO flavourful!!! A definate keeper.

Easy Dump Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2007
No matter how I've made this (flavour combinations) I haven't gone wrong. I get lots of compliments for this cake, and while I'm not a big keener on it, everyone in my life who eats it just loves it. I'm a pretty picky cake eater, though.

Blueberry Cream Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2008
Very good. I used the suggestion another reviewer listed and used half brown sugar, half white, and increased the sugar by 1/2 a cup. I also used the same reviewers topping (a variation of something by the Barefoot Contessa). I did not add spices. I did add 3 cups of blueberries. YUM!

Cloverleaf Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2008
What I've been looking for for years! Tender, soft. I used butter as the shortening. Mixed it all up in the bread machine and while my machine can only do a 3 cup flour loaf of bread, with a little assistance from a wooden spoon, it kneaded this up alright. The kids helped me roll the balls. We made 24 rolls and braided the rest together into a mini loaf. YUM!

excellent. The pasta was just right. I served it with an authentic alfredo sauce. SOOO yummy to have the basil in there to flavour the creamy goodness of alfredo. Make sure you use FRESH basil!!
