Strawberry Rhubarb Pie III

Reviewed: May 22, 2002
Recipe had way too much tapioca! It made the pie dry and jelloie like. I used the crumb crust top and didn't like that either.

Rhubarb Upside Down Cake II

Reviewed: May 22, 2002
Comes out of the pan very easily. My family didn't care for the taste. They would have preferred fresh strawberries instead of the strawberry jello.

Lemon-Garlic Shrimp Kebabs

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2004
I found this recipe to be a little bland and way too lemony and peppery.

Chicken and Bacon Shish Kabobs

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2004
Great flavor but it doesn't cook evenly on the grill. The bacon wrapped chicken doesn't cook as fast as the veggies.

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2005
Great flavor and easy to make. The sauce seemed a little too thin though. I used the low-fat cream cheese in the recipe to reduce the calories. Maybe that's why the sauce was too thin.

Fantastic flavor but VERY time consuming to make. My family loved it.

New Red Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2006
I was looking for a different variation of a potato salad in place of the ordinary one that everyone makes, so I decided to try this recipe for the fourth of July party and not one person asked for the recipe or said that they like it. It was O.K. but very bland. I made it exactly like the recipe called for only I doubled it to serve 12 people. I won't be making it again.

Raspberry Sour Cream Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2006
I made this pie exactly as stated with no deviations and NO ONE liked it! Everyone said it was too gushie and didn't measure up to a REAL raspberry pie.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2006
I followed this recipe exactly except I used 5 cups of apples instead of 4. Came out O.K. but lacked flavor and was very dry. Also, it would have been helpful if they advised you to butter the pan before adding the ingredients. I used a non-stick pan and had a real hard time getting it out. Would not make again.

Swedish Apple Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2006
Definitely would not make again. Came out way too dry and cake like. I used an extra apple and it still wasn't enough. Too much topping and not enough apples. It should be called Swedish Apple Cake.

Cocktail Meatballs IV

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2007
I made these meatballs for a Super Bowl Party and they came out great. Everyone wanted the recipe. I made my own italian meatballs and used one jar of Heinz chili sauce and one jar of Smuckers grape jelly with 2 tab. of Nance's Sharp and Creamy mustard. I cooked the sauce ingredients on the stove top until well blended and bubbly and then put the meatballs after they were cooked in the oven into my crockpot and poured the sauce on top and let them cook on low for 3 hrs. Perfect. They were tasty and moist. You just have to remember to give them a stir into the sauce every once in a while if they're not already gone by then.

Orange Blossom Trifle

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2007
This trifle was only O.K. I even added some chocolate in the recipe as some other readers recommended and it still wasn't anything anyone liked or asked for seconds. It was very bland.

Strawberry Spinach Salad I

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2007
The only reason why I'm not giving this recipe 5 stars is because it's very sweet and if your trying to watch your sugar intake, watch out. Maybe cutting the sugar to 1/4 cup would be much better. Otherwise it was wonderful.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2007
This recipe was a big hit. Everyone loved it and wanted the recipe. The only change that I made was I added blueberries to the salsa and I won't do that again because the blueberries tended to roll off the the tortilla wedges. Next time I will try a chopped up fresh peach instead. I also used the apricot preserves and it had wonderful flavor. If you're not serving it where small children are going to be eating it, I would even add a tablespoons of peach schnapps. YUM!

Chocolate Trifle

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2007
I made this recipe and the changes I made were as follows: I added one teas. of almond extract to the water, used whipped cream instead of cool whip in the chocolate pudding mixture and I used french vanilla cool whip instead of plain. I also put a couple of crushed heath bars on top. Next time I'm going to add either bananas or strawberries as an additional layer. Everyone wanted the recipe. YUMMY!

Easy Batter Fruit Cobbler

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2007
This is not your typical cobbler. I made this recipe using fresh raspberries. I used 3 cups of berries instead of 2 and added a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg. I baked it for 50 minutes and the outside was hard and dark brown and the center was gooey. The taste was O.K. I won't make this again as there are much better cobbler recipes out there.

Irish Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2007
Yummy! The only changes I made were to cut down on the cooking time so I used fresh chicken tenders cut into bite size pieces and cooked separately in a frying pan. I also used one can of peas and carrots instead of fresh carrots and frozen peas, and boiled the onions and celery in the 3 cups of water. I also omitted the potatoes as I felt the biscuits were enough starch. The flavor was fantastic and my family loved it. Making it this way reduced the cooking time down to half.

Yellow Squash Dressing

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2007
I don't think this recipe should say that the preparation time is only 10 minutes. I had to make the cornbread part first which took 25 minutes to bake. Also, the only change I made was I used butter instead of margarine. The taste was O.K. but I won't be making it again.

Summer Squash Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2007
This is more of a cake recipe than a bread recipe. My family said they would have liked it better if I frosted it. The only change I made was using 1 teas. of nutmeg instead of 2. Otherwise, I probably won't make it again.

Herb Roasted Pork

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2008
I made this recipe with high expectations but was a little disappointed. Maybe it was because I followed some other reviewers suggestions and made some substitutions. The only had a 2.5 lb. roast and I doubled the amount of rub and sauce. I used brown sugar instead of white and it was VERY sweet. I used flour instead of cornstarch and I used balsamic vinegar instead of regular. The garlic taste was overwhelming. I cooked it for 2 hrs. to 160 degrees with a foil tent for the first hour and it was tender and juicy. My husband didn't care for the rub or the sauce. He said he would rather have it plain. I will try it one more time only this time I will follow the recipe to the tee and hope for the best.
