Rhubarb Sour Cream Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2009
I made this pie with the following exceptions: I used 1-1/4 cups sugar and used 1 cup of cut up strawberries and 3 cups of rhubarb. No one liked this pie. They said the crumb topping was too thick and the inside tasted too much like flour.

Ham and Chicken Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2009
This was very good recipe but I made the following changes: used 1/2 cup olives since that's all I had. Used angel hair pasta instead of noodles since I didn't have any of those either. Even the 1/2 cup of olives gave it a weird Mexican taste, so next time I will omit the olives and use green peas instead.

Rosemary Chicken with Orange-Maple Glaze

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2009
I made this last night and my husband couldn't get enough of it. It was very easy to make and really quick. The only changes I made were I did as another reviewer did and divided the orange juice to 3/4 and 1/4 cups so I could add 1-1/2 tab. cornstarch to the 1/4 cup to add at the end. This made the sauce a perfect thickness. I also added 2 Tab. honey to the 3/4 cup orange juice when it was being reduced down and 1/4 cup maple syrup. We're not that crazy about rosemary, so I only used 1 teas. Will definitely make this again.

Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2009
Excellent muffins! Only lasted 2 days in my house. The only changes I made were I used 1/2 cup organic vanilla yogurt and baked in mini muffin pans sprayed with non-stick spray (made 48 muffins). Definitely a keeper.

EAGLE BRAND® Mocha Walnut Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
I made this recipe exactly as stated and my family didn't like it at all. They said it was tasteless and had way too many walnuts. I used a 9" deep dish pie shell and there wasn't enough filling to fill it so it didn't look very appetizing.

Fabulous Fruit Salad II

WONDERFUL and EASY to make. Everyone LOVED this fruit salad. The only changes I made were I omitted the apples and walnuts and substituted blueberries, mandarin oranges, and pineapple. I also added one cup of granola. Definitely a keeper!!!

Crustless Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2009
FANTASTIC! The only changes I made were the following: I used only 1/2 of the spinach pkg., added 1 clove garlic minced, 1 cup cooked crumbled turkey sausage, pinch of nutmeg, and 4 Tab. of mild chunky salsa. Also, I used only 2 cups of shredded sharp cheese instead of 3 cups of muenster cheese. PERFECTION! Everyone loved it including my 21 month old granddaughter who had 3 helpings!!!!

Ham and Cheese Biscuits

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2009
Fantastic biscuits! The only changes I made were as other reviewers suggested and I used King's Hawaiian Rolls, and doubled the sauce mixture. I also buttered the bottoms of the rolls so they wouldn't stick to the baking dish. I cut the rolls in half and layered one slice of cheese, then ham, then cheese and put the tops back on. I baked them for 10 min. without the sauce and then 10 min. with the sauce brushed over the tops. I also omitted the poppy seeds. Definitely a keeper. YUMMY!!!

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2009
This recipe was fantastic! The only changes I made were I used dried parsley instead of oregano, 3 lbs. of chicken tenderloins instead of chicken breasts, 1 stick of butter and 2 tab. of olive oil, and baby portebella mushrooms. I also coated the chicken pieces using a plastic bag instead of a shallow dish. Everyone raved and it was so easy to make. Definitely a keeper.

Robbi's M&M Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2008
I followed this recipe exactly except I substituted 2 sticks of butter for the shortening and they came out flat as silver dollars and very crispy. I baked them for the time stated on air-bake cookie sheets. No one would eat them. I was looking for a thick, soft, chewy cookie and this wasn't it.

Maple Walnut Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2008
Very dry and bland. I did as other reviewers suggested and added one teas. vanilla and 1 teas. cinnamon to give them more flavor but it didn't help. They still tasted like cardboard.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2008
Excellent recipe. My family loved it. I made the following adjustments though. I used 2-1/2 lbs. of chicken tenders, one can of cream of chicken soup and one can of cream of celery soup. I also used chicken broth instead of water and added 1 cup of frozen corn. Next time I will use only 1 pkg. of biscuits as two pkgs. were too much. I served it with peas and carrots on the side. YUMMY!

Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake

Reviewed: May 19, 2008
Only make this cake if you LOVE chocolate. It is very very rich. I made it exactly as written with 2 changes. I only added 1 cup of mini semi-sweet chips and used praline liqueor in place of coffee liqueor. Also, make sure you have something to drink with it. Other than that, I never thought I would think something was too chocolatey but this was!

Scalloped Corn

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2008
This is not your typical scalloped corn. I made it for Easter and was very disappointed that it turned out exactly like corn bread. It was great as a corn bread, but don't expect it to be a vegetable dish at all. I wanted good old fashioned scalloped corn like my mother used to make and this was not it.

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2008
Excellent carrot cake. I made it for Easter and everyone raved about it. However, I did make a few changes. 1) I didn't use any raisins as no one likes them. 2) I used 2-1/2 cups of shredded carrots. 3) I used 1/2 cup coconut. 4) I used 1/2 cups chopped walnuts and 5) I used two 8" round pans instead of a 9x13. Will definitely make this again!

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2008
This frosting was very good on my carrot cake. The only change I made was I used 1-3/4 cups of confectioners sugar to cut down on the sweetness and it was perfect.

Tangy Slow Cooker Pork Roast

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2008
I made this recipe exactly as stated except I left out the hot pepper sauce and my husband, son and I all loved it. It came out moist and very tender. I am going to do as other reviewers have suggested and use the leftovers for BBQ pork sandwiches. YUM!

Honey-Poppy Seed Cornish Hens

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2008
I made this recipe exactly as stated and my husband and I didn't care for it. The sweetness took away from the flavor of the hens and the poppy seeds made a real mess on your plate, fingers and teeth.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2008
My family loved this meatloaf. The only changes I made was I didn't have any ground beef, so I substituted ground venison and I didn't have any saltine crackers so I substituted club house crackers. It turned out perfect. This is our new favorite.

Herb Roasted Pork

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2008
I made this recipe with high expectations but was a little disappointed. Maybe it was because I followed some other reviewers suggestions and made some substitutions. The only had a 2.5 lb. roast and I doubled the amount of rub and sauce. I used brown sugar instead of white and it was VERY sweet. I used flour instead of cornstarch and I used balsamic vinegar instead of regular. The garlic taste was overwhelming. I cooked it for 2 hrs. to 160 degrees with a foil tent for the first hour and it was tender and juicy. My husband didn't care for the rub or the sauce. He said he would rather have it plain. I will try it one more time only this time I will follow the recipe to the tee and hope for the best.
