Peach Wrinkle

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2013
I really enjoyed this recipe. I have made several different types of peach cobblers and this one has a cake like topping instead of pie crust or bread pudding consistency. The fruit stay on the bottom and is a perfect compliment to the cake crust on top. I used can peaches and blueberries. Since I used canned peaches I didn't add the 1/2cup sugar to the fruit. I baked in a 9X9 glass pan so my cook time was 55 mins instead of 40-45min. Top was nice and golden brown. Thanks for the recipe.

Lighter Spaghetti Alfredo with Cauliflower

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2012
Wow this is a first. I am the first to review. Well, this was way better than expected. It is a very light, creamy, and smooth alfredo-like sauce. I great alternative to the fat laden original alfredo sauce. I followed the sauce instructions to the tee except I used half & half instead of cream b/c that was all I had on hand. Though I expect that it would have been creamier if I had used heavy cream instead of half & half. Still it was very good. I skipped the bread crumb topping and served with cheese tortellini. Yummy!!

Pumpkin Pancakes

Reviewed: May 22, 2012
I am bit unusual since I made these on a hot May morning in Texas instead of a cool fall day. But I think that are great anytime of the year. Very light and flavorful. The only changes I made were to use two eggs instead of one and I added some vanilla extract. And don't be afraid to add the vinegar to the milk. Vinegar added to milk is called soured milk which is used as buttermilk substitute in recipes. Make these today. They are fabulous.

Brazilian Black Bean Stew

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2011
I probably should not review this stew, since I made a lot of changes. However my husband loved it and I wanted to thank CRVGRL for the inspiration of this dish. I was looking for a pantry meal, a way to use up what I already had on hand so here are my changes: I used smoked sausage instead of chorizo or ham. Acorn squash (instead of sweet potatoes) + one russet potato. 1 can dice tomatoes + 1/2 rotel (tomatoes w/ chiles). 1 can black bean (I would have like two cans if I had them on hand) Omitted the water, to keep stew thick. And left out the mango, since I didn't have anyone on hand either. Add Lots of cilantro. Still turned out DELICIOUS. I will try to make the recipe as written and revise my review at a later date.

Norwegian Pancakes - Pannekaken

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2011
Tasty, but I prefer the dessert crepes from this website better. These are much more eggy. With that said, they are a lot less delicate and held up better to folding and handling.

Round Steak Sauerbraten

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2011
Very good and easy to make. Was a big hit with my dinner party guest. I thought it was going to be too sweet, but it turned out delicious over buttered noodles.

Jennie's Heavenly Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2011
Great, easy recipe. I just threw everything into the crockpot and I used cream of mushroom soup like most of the reviewers. Served over rice. Next time I will add mushrooms. Was a big hit at my dinner party.

Pork Chop Dinner

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2011
Great, easy pork chop recipe. I love that the pork chops come out tender in the crock pot. I made this recipe pretty much as written, excepted I use 1 teaspoon brown sugar and left out the mushroom since I didn't have any on hand. I love the sauce and will definitely double next time I make this.

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies III

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2011
Very good cookie. I made two white chocolate macadamia nut cookie recipes from this site tonight and this one is my favorite of the two. I made the recipe exactly as is (excepted for i half the recipe). The cookies were neither two flat or to tall. They were just right. After reading the other reviews, I do agree that you should either sub vanilla extract for the almond extract or 1/2 the amount of almond extract. I will make that modification the next time I make these. However my husband loves almond extract, so I expect that the cookies I made tonight will be gone in no time.

Simple Taco Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2011
Very tasty and easy to make. I used Ro-tel in place of the diced tomatoes w/ green chile peppers and used beef stock instead of water. This gave the soup a spicy flavor that my husband likes. Great recipe for a no fuss soup.

Baked Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2011
This recipe didn't work out for me. The chicken turned out boiled instead of baked/roasted. I cooked in slow cooker as recommended but I think it would cook better in a roaster.

Creamy Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2011
I found this recipe after looking for a frosting that didn't need butter. It is very simple to make and very tasty. I followed the recipe exactly except I found that you need to beat the mixture with an electric mixer. I tried whisking it by hand till my arm nearly fell off. The mixer is the way to go. Frosting was thick, fluffy, and went very well with the chocolate cake I made.
