Grilled Delmonico Steaks

Reviewed: May 29, 2009
A big hit in our family. I followed the recipe exactly, marinated about 4 hours. And was promptly requested by the steak lovers of the household to not change a thing and to make them please, please, please for Father's Day this year. I served them with baked potatoes and grilled corn on the cob.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2008
This made it to my "1" list! (I rename recipes that were a big hit in our family to start with a "1". Then, when I am reviewing prospects to use each week, I usually go to my "1"'s since I know they are easy and a favorite.) I followed this recipe as is but cut the biscuit dough down to one can. All family members loved it and asked when they could have it again. Very easy and wonderful flavor.

Wow! Is that Caviar?

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2006
Outstanding, it disappeared very quickly at our Christmas day party, with rave reviews by all. I made mine in a dish with three horizontal compartments. I put the layered caviar ingredients in the middle using black/red stripes and put "mini-toasts" (bought in a package from the supermarket)in the side compartments. I will be making this one again and again.

Mizithra Browned Butter Pasta

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2006
This is one of my all time favorites. I've made it many, many times, tried some variations but always coming back to this basic recipe as the best. One version we do use on occasion which is useful if you cannot find mizithra cheese is to substitute half and half of parmessan and kassari. It isn't the same, but is quite good on its own. A cheese owner suggested this many years ago when it was very hard to find mizithra. My local supermarket now carries it regularly so it is no longer a problem.

Key Lime Cookies I

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2002
Great recipe! I followed it exactly for the ingredients. But I refrigerated the dough (way too sticky) for 1 hour and was able to drop spoonfulls easily but it was a bit sticky. After 4 hours of refrigeration I found I could roll balls. Interestingly, the cookies ended up the same either way, both in size and texture. Oh, I also made larger (1 inch balls) and cooked those for 15-17 minutes on a later batch. I will definitely make this recipe again. I brought them into work and they disappeared in a short time. I'm thinking it would work well with oranges. I'll try that next time.

My Best Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2002
Very good recipe and is now a keeper in my personal recipes. I left out the celery and carrots due to veggie pickiness in the family and was concerned that would affect the overall flavor. Not a bit. Interestingly, I tasted it prior to adding the salt and red wine vinegar. VERY bland, uninteresting. I added the salt, OK, that picked it up so that it started to taste like clam chowder. But the real kick was the vinegar. It brought it all together with a great taste! BTW, as suggested by others I used all clam juice instead of water, added some bacon and sauted the onion in the bacon fat before adding the potatoes and clam juice. Minor changes but bacon just sounded so good. Well done, Sharon!

Whipped Cream Frosting

Reviewed: May 31, 2002
Thanks for a great recipe! I used this one when I was looking for a white *light* tasting frosting to make a Stars and Stripes cake for Memorial Day. This worked perfectly and was even good at being piped on to make the white stars on the blueberries. The taste is fantastic and went very well with the strawberries and blueberries. I even piped the leftover frosting on top of some of the leftover strawberries. Yum!! This is in my keep forever file!
