Pumpkin Cookies V

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2006
More cake like than I enjoy but they were snatched up at the bake sale. Doubled the spices as others did too. The frosting is great I'll use it on other recipes.

Mom's Ginger Snaps

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2006
Very good cookie - I don't like them to spicy so this recipe worked great for me. Mine spread out a lot but I liked the crispy-ness. I used Brier Rabbit Unsulfured Molassas cookies were very dark - yummy!

Scrumptious Salisbury Steak in Mushroom Gravy

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2006
I added onion and fresh mushrooms to the patties and used evap fat free milk. B'friend loved it - he's a mushroom freak. It was ok for me. I'm sure I'll make it again.

Double Quick Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2006
Super easy to make with items on hand. I only had herb potato flakes so these were herbed rolls. I killed the yeast the second time I made them but the B'Friend still ate them up. Easy recipe to try if you are afraid of yeast like me. :+)

Stuffed Pepperoncini

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2007
Pretty bland and labor intensive. I'm sure if you added spices to the cream cheese mixture it would help. I made as directed, but figured it would be bland so I added some garlic powder; it wasn't enough.

Sandy's Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2008
The frosting was great - not too sweet with a bit of tang from the sour cream. The cake was dry - I wonder what I did wrong? Baked up nicely though - no high domes which makes frosting easier.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2008
The best! I made them exactly as directed; didn't even have to butter my non-stick pan! I will never use a pre-packaged, mix again - there is no need to with this easy and delicious pancake recipe.

BLT Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2008
I'm not usually a fan of pasta salads but this one was quick, easy, and tasty! The only change I made was to use green onion because that's what I had on hand. I also made my ranch dressing from the hidden valley packet because that's the ranch I like. Yummy!

Chicken Noodle Casserole II

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2008
Pretty good but I found two exceptions to the original recipe. 1) DO NOT use low fat sour cream - it separates when cooking and the presentation is bad. 2) Make sure all of the noodles are covered. I did not and had crispy, uncooked noodles around the edges. Had I known of these two problems I would have had a better dish. But overall it was pretty darn good. Thanks for the recipe.

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2009
Super easy, delicious and economical. I followed the recipe exactly; I was a bit concerned that it would not make enough juice to make gravy but it made plenty. I too will never buy turkey lunch meat again - this is better! Thanks for a great recipe!

No Bake Cookies III

A friend requested some no-bakes and these turned out great. Followed the instructions and ingredients to a T. Definitely make sure it comes to a ROLLING BOIL to begin timing as a previous reviewer stated.

Marinated Flank Steak

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2009
Followed the recipe exactly; the soy sauce overwhelmed the rest of the flavors. Probably won't use this marinade again.

Easy Ground Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2009
This was easy and very good. I thought it tasted a little bland at the simmer stage so I added about a tbsp of Worcestershire sauce. I also used fresh button and crimini mushrooms. I served it with 'Egg Noodles' from this site.

Pork Chalupas

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2009
I made this exactly as written and found it very bland once it was finished cooking. I added 1/4 c of Mexican seasoning and 2 T of cumin and it didn't seem to help. I took this to a 'moving' party at a friends house and everyone loved it. If I make it again I'll probably use chipotle in adobo in place of one of the cans of chiles. Four stars because everyone loved it except me.

Jalapenos del Raton

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
Very good - made exactly as the recipe stated. Too hot for my mouth so I soaked the halved jalapenos in milk for about 5 minutes to take some of the heat out of the peppers before stuffing wrapping and baking.

Jesse and Steve's Fresh Strawberry Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2009
We had a bunch of strawberries, no cake mixes and no gelatin and I felt like baking. This recipe was a winner! I chopped up some strawberries and poured them over the top as I didn't have the xxx sugar on hand either. Everyone loved this cake; we finished it for breakfast. The sour cream is a must - gives it a very moist consistency! Thanks for a Strawberry Cake recipe that does use prepackaged items such as cake mix and gelatin.

Shortcut Refried Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2009
quick, easy and yummy recipe that lets you control the nutritional value of the dish. Canned beans contain salt and lard - this recipe makes "refried" beans in a jiffy. I add minced onion, cumin, and a can of green chilis when I make them. Thanks for the recipe ACHOCOCAT!
