Key Lime Cheesecake I

Reviewed: May 25, 2009
I made this for a coworker's birthday and it was a hit with everyone who loved key lime! This recipe packs quite a lime punch, so I served it with whipped cream so that those who wanted it could have the extra sweetness. This recipe was a total success!

Spinach Dip with Water Chestnuts

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2009
This dip is addictive. I wanted a dip I could take to work to share and it made a LOT. There was some left over (somebody else brought storebought dip so it had some competition) so I brought it home and it made a GREAT snack til it was gone.

Broccoli Cheese Soup V

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2009
We loved this recipe! I reduced it to 1/3 of the original recipes and it made enough for 2 of us plus some for my husband to take in his lunch. It was excellent!

Parmesan Spinach Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2008
These were good but they need quite a bit of sprucing up to be considered exceptional. I added garlic and rolled them in Parmesan and they were ok. I may come back to this recipe in the future to see what I can do to make it better.

Cherry Snowballs

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
These were excellent! I took another cook's advice and doubled the amount of powdered sugar in the batter and it worked out great! I thought the dough was just right, it's not overly sweet (it wouldn't work on its own necessarily) but coupled with the cherry in the middle and the frosting, it was great. I used cherry juice instead of milk to avoid the chance of them needing refrigeration, and only rolled half of them in coconut in case people didn't care for coconut. I boxed these up and gave them as Christmas gifts. The only thing I'd check is make sure the people you're making them for like cherries! I didn't think about this beforehand but I think I'm safe. Cheers!

Oreo™ Cookie Bark

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
This was a huge hit at my family's Christmas celebration this year! I took other cooks' advice and was careful to spread it as thin as possble and that made it easy to break. I made 2 batches and bagged it up as stocking stuffers, and we're munching on the leftovers. This will go on my make-again list!

Quick Chili I

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2008
We had this for dinner last night and we really enjoyed it. I halved the recipe, which wasn't the easiest thing to do since it meant I had to split up the tomatoes and the tomato sauce. I hesitated over adding the water, ended up doing it, and had to use some cornstarch to thicken it up. Other than that though, it was fantastic, easy, and we'll be adding it to our dinner rotation!

Dark Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
Excellent recipe. I followed it exactly and came up with a great result. The resulting cake was a bit less stable than I'm used to (when I turned it out of the pan, some of the edge crumbled off), but as it was my first cake from scratch I don't know whether that was because cake mixes are generally more stable, or through human error. :) Still, excellent result, time consuming but not challenging, and I'll be making this again.

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2008
I loved this! It was some work mixing up everything, especially since I didn't soften the cream cheese first (my bad). But the finished result was awesome, even though I overbaked it a bit! I HIGHLY recommend refrigerating it overnight if you can, it was MUCH tastier the next day!

Flourless Chocolate Cake II

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2008
I made this for a co-worker's birthday (she has a wheat sensitivity) and it was a TOTAL hit. I agree that the consistency is more of a brownie, which was completely ok with me as I wasn't looking for antyhing overly formal. I made it into cupcakes, lining each tin with parchment paper, then greasing and cocoa-ing the edges. It was time consuming, but I didn't lose a single cake when I pulled them out of the tin. The recipe itself is an absolute BREEZE. I used the microwave to melt the chocolate, then stirred in the rest and I was done! Topped with "Hard Chocolate Glaze". This recipe is fabulous!

Chocolate Frosting II

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2008
I thought this frosting recipe was fabulous, and I will totally be using it again. I also cut the sugar down to 3 cups (based on other reviewers' opinions) and I added it gradually, so that it was easier to blend. I also added the milk as I was blending the frosting in, rather than at the end. It made for an easier experience. Don't forget that if it's too thick for you, you can ALWAYS add more milk til it's where you want it to be.

Santa's Chocolate Thumbprint Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2008
We made these for Christmas gifts this year and they were a huge hit with my family! They're very attractive once they're done, and they were delicious as well! They take a bit of time to make and top, but they were totally worth it. My uncle couldn't wait to dig in when we were opening presents, he'd already eaten several by the time we were done! I'd call that a win! :)

Buckeye Balls II

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2008
We made this candy for Christmas and it was a HUGE hit! I cut the amount of powdered sugar like the other reviewers said to do, and it worked perfectly. I made balls that were about 1/2 inch across, and dipped them in the chocolate mixture. I've been dipping chocolate for years, but I never tried mixing a bit of shortening in, and it made the chocolate so smooth and easy to work with! In my opinion, Nestle Tollhouse semi-sweet is the best melting chocolate there is. We've tried lots of kinds, and it melts the smoothest. But maybe with shortening other kinds of chocolate work well too. Anyway, these were a huge hit (both to make and to eat) and we'll definitely be making these again!

Easy Valentine Sandwich Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2008
We made these cookies in Christmas shapes as Christmas gifts, and they were great! I was afraid the almond extract would make them taste funny (since it was an unfamiliar smell) but it gave them a nice sweet taste and I'm really glad I didn't omit it. They're a very crisp cookie, and be sure not to let the baking paper (we used parchment) bunch up on the sides of the cookie sheets, as it might cause the cookies to bake in weird shapes. Also, we used powdered sugar to roll them out with, and it made a nice sweet dusting on them.
