About this Cook
I'm 26 years old and have been cooking since I was pretty (I can't remember the age) young. My step mother taught me most of what I know and same with watching a lot of the foodnetwork (great chefs and great meal ideas). I've always seemed to understand how to put something together and how to alter it to make it more my own and the meal would turn out just as good. I find most of my inspiration in the kitchen and I'll continue to enjoy cooking for many more years to come. I'm always open to new food ideas and new ways of learning how to make it.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking with comfort foods like making home made macaroni and cheese or stews and soups or chili. I like Italian or Chinese as well and I would like to learn how to cook other types of cuisine as well.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I always loved it when my mother would bake around Christmas time, she had her own few recipies she liked to make like white chocolate almond bark (which I would love to find the recipe for again), shortbread cookies and chocolate truffles as well as a few others. My grandmother also passed down how to make the best pie crust. My grandfathers mother had taught her.
My cooking triumphs
The best turn out ever was a juicy hamburger made very small with BBQ sauce and cheese on a tea biscuit bun because I didn't want to run to the store and pay for regular boring hamburger buns. Debbies Tea Biscuits was the inspiration. I've also made very successful first time banana bread. It was so good.
My cooking tragedies
The only thing I can really think of was when I attempted to make gravey one night I didn't add hardly any salt if any at all or pepper and it was a very thick and rich gravey. Almost taste burnt. Not the most pleasent memory, but I've made very good gravey before that and since then.

Sweet Restaurant Slaw
I gave it 3 stars because I didn't try the actual recipe due to how many complaints there where of how sweet it the recipe is. So I used 1/4 of a cup of white sugar. Then I used an Italian dressing instead of white vinegar. I also used a Vegan Mayonnaise instead of regular and instead of poppy seeds I just salt and pepper. I'm kind of amazed at how good it turned out not using the vegan Mayonnaise.

Dumplings
This was just awesome. My first time making Dumplings and they turned out great. Not a single issue. They appear to be very open with adding different flavors to them as well. Perfect!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings
I would just like to suggest that instead of using a cream of soup from a can you could also make your own from left home made soups and adding a little cream like milk etc.. then add flower and water or cornstarch and water which would thicken the broth and make it nice and creamy with some of the 2% milk added. If you wanted to try it from a left over home made soup at home is a good idea as well. Then you can add all your own ingredients.
