About this Cook
I am a very proud Navy wife living in Japan for the next few years! I have recently found that baking and cooking are my new passions!
My favorite things to cook
Basically anything that could be considered "southern comfort food." Sweets, desserts, breads, etc.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I tend to stay with the things I get from family, mostly my mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Anytime I can use an iron skillet, or make anything completely from scratch I am happy.
My cooking triumphs
Nanny's chicken and dumplings Momma's lasagna Fried chicken Skillet cornbread Sweet cornbread Among others!
My cooking tragedies
...Mashed potatoes. I can't seem to get them right, HA!

Irene's Barbeque Sauce
This sauce is amazing! We like a thicker sauce and I noticed that someone mentioned they let it simmer an extra 20 minutes and that's the only thing I did that went off recipe. It thickened up quite nicely, has a great taste and I can't wait to use it for dinner tonight.

Cinnamon Rolls III
Absolutely. AMAZING. No need to change a thing! Even my husband, who has almost no sweet tooth at all, ate them up AND took some to his ship the next day to share with his division. This has now become my go-to recipe for cinnamon rolls.
