Chicken Wing Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2007
I followed the recipe exactly. It was original, and I enjoyed something different from the norm. However, only about a quarter of it was eaten at a football party. It just couldn't compete w/ the real thing. I don't think this recipe "replaces chicken wings," - it's just kind of reminicent (sp?) of a wing - and it's definitely not my fave. As far as dips go, I prefer the traditional spinach or ranch. Probably won't try this one again, but it wasn't bad.

French Ham Cheese and Egg Fondue Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
This recipe went over well at a bridal shower brunch. I'm not usually sensitive to salt, but I found this to be a bit salty. I did not have enough cheddar this time, so I added in a little fontina to the cheddar mix...That was a great substitute since fontina melts so well. Next time, I will make sure to use low-sodium ham. I will also add a vegetable like spinach, onion, or mushrooms. It's a keeper though.

Pan-Fried Asparagus

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
This was good. Make sure you don't burn the garlic - that was bad. :) (I had to start over.) I'll make again as a side to steak & garlic mashed potatoes.

Good recipe. Needed to cook longer than stated. Will use again as a side to Asian salmon & rice.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
There was nothing "wrong" with this recipe: We just found it to be nothing special. The breast cook in a shorter time than stated (almost an hour faster). The extra stuff added to the BBQ sauce didn't change the taste much b/c we started out w/ a great sauce. This wasn't bad - simply ho-hum.

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
This was good, but I like the "restaurant style" recipe from this site a little better. To both recipes, try adding a pinch of cayenne & a dash of hot sauce for a little kick.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
Holy cow! These were great! This is my new muffin recipe. I'd only change two, very minor, things: more blueberries & less crumb topping. The cinnamon in the topping sets these moist muffins apart from others I've tried. Yum! I made my first batch into mini-muffins for a bridal shower and cooked them only 8-10 minutes. Almost every lady at the party asked for the recipe.

My Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2007
As the description states, this is a good, basis chili recipe, and it doesn't take long to make. Other than halving the recipe, I followed the ingredient list and directions exactly. It was cool to be able to begin making this chili 15 minutes before kickoff and be eating it by 3rd quarter. (There were a lot of time outs. :) The only thing that gave this 4 stars instead 5 was the fact that because this recipe was so quick and didn't include a lot of ingredients, the depth of flavor that I prefer in a great chili was missing. It is what it is, and I will continue to use this as a "quick and easy" chili recipe.

Spicy-Sweet Glazed Salmon

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2007
Made this w/ King Salmon..Yummo! I added a little maple syrup (the real kind) & additional brown sugar. (The soy smelled overpowering until I did that.) This would also be great grilled, too. It's a keeper but can be altered to suit tastes.

Blue Cheese and Pear Tartlets

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2007
OMG! These were so good! It was the first appetizer to go! I did follow a few of the suggestions: used Gorgonzola instead of bleu cheese & drizzled honey on the top after a few minutes of cooling. I also added about 2 tablespoons of light cream cheese to balance the Gorgonzola and to make the tart a little creamy. Also, I forgot to add the light cream at first, so I "poured" a drop onto each tart individually after I filled them. This turned out fine. There was quite a bit of mix left after filling the 15 tartletts, so I created my own tartlets by using regular philo dough (sp?) and cutting it into small squares (about 5 or 6 layers). If you make your own, make sure you brush melted butter on the dough so it will turn golden. (I forgot that step.) Next time, I will dice the pear pieces up smaller & add a piece of walnut to the finished product before drizzling the honey. The description said it was time-consuming, but I found this to be one of the easiest things I've made in a while. The "work" is in dicing the pear & filling the tarts - not time-consuming at all.

Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2007
Followed directions exactly and wouldn't change a thing! This was one of the best breakfast casseroles I've made, and I've made a lot. A food processor w/ a shredder attachment mades the job easier. I just pressed the potatoes with my hands to squeeze our moisture. The final product is fabulous.

Spinach Marie

This was an excellent dish. I had to cook it a little longer than stated (5 or 10 minutes), but everyone at my Christmas party last year commented on it. There was none left.

Old Bay® Shrimp Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2007
Although it look promising, we did not enjoy this recipe. It's needs a lot more flavor - perhaps a spice or garlic. Maybe one could consider this a nice base recipe to add on to.

This was awesome! I only had time to marinade the recipe for 4 hours, and the meat was bursting with flavor. I will use this over and over.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2007
Followed recipe exactly (except used melted real butter instead of the kind from the can). I used apricot preserves, which worked perfectly. This is as yummy as everyone says it is. :) Oh, make sure to dice the fruit (especially apples and strawberries) very fine so it's easy to dip.

Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2007
So good it'll give you a heart attack! Seriously, these were the first appetizers to go when I made them, and they tasted GREAT! But I'm not used to eating a lot of grease, so my stomach was a little upset later in the day. Now that I'm feeling okay, I want more of these. :)

Tartar Sauce I

This is the perfect ratio of tarter sauce ingredients. For a twist, add a half teaspoon of creamy horseradish. But the recipe is perfect as it, too.

Asian Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2007
This was a hit at our Labor Day party. I have only two suggestions: 1. Use 1/2 the amount of butter called for. 2. Add shredded carrots. The carrots made the salad more appealing to the eye and gave it a more complex flavor. This is a great picnic dish.
