Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2012
This bread is awesome!!!!! I followed the recipe and it turned out great. I made a loaf and 12 large muffins from this batch and both are moist and tasty. I took some bread to work and soon my phone rung with thanks. Great recipe!

Mama's Asian Chicken and Rice

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2012
I admit, I was a bit skeptical at first. I grated my first orange peel, which increase my skeptism but I trudged through the recipe. The end result is tasty chicken! I used skinless, boneless chicken thighs instead of the breasts and it was a good choice. The flavor seeped into the tender meat which made every bite full of flavor. The sauce was a little thin, but I just added 2 tbsp of potatoe flakes and that worked just fine. I will DEFINATELY use this recipe again. Thanks Scarlett for sharing!!!!!!

Chili con Carne II

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2012
Great recipe! I added a sprinkle of cloves even though I hate them and part of me wished I had left them out, but I'll be a trooper. I like a good tomato sauce as my base, so I added a can of tomato sauce. After browning meat and adding ingredients, I placed the pasta sauce into a crockpot and added the rest of the ingredients and let it all cook together for 90 minutes. I used just one cinnamon stick instead of two (sheesh, they are expensive) The cloves overpowered the aroma but it didn't kill the flavor, thank goodness. Other than the cloves, it was great. (They were quite expensive too and I don't even like those nasty things.) Would be 5 stars without the cloves. Also, I added a small can of pinto beans with the kidney beans for a little variety.

Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2012
I love this cornbread! I used this recipe twice and it is my favorite version of cornbread. It turned out very moist and the perfect texture for me. Maybe some cooks left their bread in the oven too long and it dried out. Mine is restaurant quality and pairs well with the chili con carne recipe on this site.

Chef John's Mushroom Gravy

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2012
This was the first time that I made gravy (without my mom looking over my shoulder guiding me). Thank you Chef John for your expertise. I followed this recipe closely and my gravy is delicious! Although my parents passed away and did not leave behind any recipes, I feel encouraged to get in the kitchen and make some great food. I don't want to eat fast food anymore. Thanks allrecipes.com!!!!!!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2012
It is so good, even with my healthier modifications. This is what you call "goof proof." I only used 1 tblsp butter and 1 tblsp coconut oil. I used soymilk instead of regular milk and I used potato flakes to thicken it instead of making a rue.

Crab Cakes III

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2011
Oh my goodness. These were great! It's a good thing that I put the rest of them in the refrigerator. I served one with talapia and veggies but I would have loved to have a second one tonight. I am impressed. Great recipe!
