I am 26 years old, and I have been married for 7 years. My husband and I have been together for 10 years. I love to cook, spend time with family and friends, play with my puppy Roxie, plan parties or gatherings, crochet, zumba, etc. I am a member of the Desk & Derrick Club, and I work as an administrative assistant at an oilfield supply store.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are casseroles and cobblers that all cook in the same dish. I also really love using my crockpot, so supper will be done when we get home from work. My favorite food, however, is chicken and dumplings. I also really enjoy anything bbq'ed anywhere from chicken to burgers to ribs. I love almost all vegetables with the exception of a few I have never had the opportunity to taste. I will try anything that looks appetizing.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite family tradition is giblet gravy that my grandmother makes. It is amazing!
Another favorite family tradition is that my mother-in-law and I always get together to make cookies and candy for tubs to give out as Christmas gifts. We make peanut butter cookies, lemon cookies, haystacks, divinity, martha washington balls, reeses balls, peanut butter fudge, etc.
My cooking triumphs
My biggest cooking triumph is when I mastered my mother-in-law's chicken and dumplings! They are delicious!
I was also really excited to master my grandmother's knock you naked cake. It will knock your socks off! lol
My cooking tragedies
Sometimes I tend to over-season food, but I love my food to have flavor! lol
My biggest cooking tragedy was when I worked so hard making chicken and dumplings for about 40 people, and I scorched them on the bottom because I was not stirring them enough. I was so disappointed because I spent all morning making them with a whole chicken and four rolls of biscuits. I had even precooked the chicken the day before.
