Buffalo Chicken Wings I

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2003
Awesome! You don't have to go out for wings when you have this recipe. I used the "coating" mixture from the "Restaurant Style Chicken Wings" off this web site and deep fried them, then used the sauce from this site. They are delectable!!

Mexican Layered Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2003
Delicious! Instead of chopped tomatoes, I used salsa which I strained. We had the youth group in for New Years Eve, and they gobbled this up!

Orange Glorious I

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2002
A nice refreshing change for breakfast on the run, but does not taste anything like an orange julius. For more sweetness do as suggested by other reviewers and add some vanilla ice cream. Myself...I thought it would be perfect with some french vanilla yogurt thrown in. Overall, a pretty decent base to start with.

Chicken Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2002
Tried this recipe for supper this evening, and loved it!! I used the chicken to make chicken burgers with mayonnaise and lettuce. They tasted almost as good as KFC!! I didn't have any potatoe flakes, but I did have potatoe flour (similar to corn starch)and I used this in place of the flour and omitted the potatoe flakes. I also added some onion powder for a little more flavour. The cracker coating fries up really nicely. This is a great recipe for when you feel like having something "comforting" with lots of fat and calories. A great weekend meal!!

Slow Cooker Barbeque

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2002
I don't own a slow cooker, but decided to try this anyway in a covered roaster. I bought a pork roast and sprinkled it with onion and garlic powder, salt, and pepper then roasted it for 3 hours on 300 degrees. I then "pulled" all the meat and added it back to the pan with the juices (having removed all the fat). At this point I added the BBQ sauce, checked the seasonings, and cooked for another hour or more, stirring occasionally. This turned out fabulous served on hot toasted buns with cole slaw and french fries.

Stephen's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2002
If there was a definition of chocolate chip cookie in the dictionary, a picture of "Stephen's Chocolate Chip Cookies" would be beside it. My search for the perfect chocolate chip cookie began and ended with this recipe!!! These are ideal...slightly crispy around the edges and wonderfully chewy in the centre. I used cold butter when making these, and had no problems with them being too flat. A truly gourmet cookie is not "puffy" anyway. As for cookies sticking to the baking sheet, might I suggest parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Also do as indicated in the recipe and allow cookies to cool for the specified time on the baking sheet. One more thing, I found these were the best when cooked between 8-9 minutes. Wendy, these are restaurant quality cookies, and my family says a big THANK YOU!!!

Chocolate Fudge Pops

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2002
I'm not sure who loves these more, my husband or my 3 year old!! This recipe made about 16 pops and they were gone in 2 days! A definate hit, and much cheaper than buying fudgesicles.

Homemade Ice Pops

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2002
These brought back memories of my childhood. I wouldn't advise cutting back on the water that much, as they would be too sweet. My three year old has been devouring these.

Dirt Cake I

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2002
I whipped this up in 15 minutes from start to finish! This is one of the most simple desserts I've ever put together, and it was a huge hit with both kids and adults. I put the desert in a small plastic wagon, and used a small shovel for scooping. Everyone raved over the presentation!

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2002
Very very Good!! The cream cheese icing on these is to die for. I think next time i may make the dough by hand, my bread machine doesn't produce a very tender dough. Over all, this is the recipe I use from now on for cinnamon rolls!!

I made this for a large BBQ party we had on the weekend. It was superb! I trippled the recipe and not a drop was left at the end of the evening. Many, many requests for the recipe too. Thank you!

Basic Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2002
I gave the dry ingredients and the shortning a whiz in my food processor until it formed a small crumb, then poured this into a bowl and added the water. This dough was so easy to work with. I'm so impressed with myself...the dough was delightfully flaky. I've always stayed away from making pie crust...but no more!! Peach season is just starting here and i can't wait to try my hand at a pie with this dough! Thank you Stephanie!! UPDATE: Since writing my review six months ago, I've gained a reputation for my flaky pie crust. I've been asked numerous times to make pies for gatherings. For people who have problems with this recipe, here are a few suggestions: Add an extra tbsp of water to the mixture, roll the dough between 2 pieces of waxed paper to prevent sticking and for easy transfer, and even though the recipe says to chill the dough, you don't have to. I've been working with this dough without chilling it, and I find it turns out even flakier, and is so easy to work with. Hope this helps!

Best Ever Cinnamon Buns

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2002
This was not a huge success in my house. We found the yellow cake mix gave the rolls a rather artificial taste. However the icing did "save" these a bit.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2002
I was in a pinch... had a bunch of over ripe banana's, and because i had no sour cream on hand which my usual banana muffin recipe calls for i turned to all recipes for another recipe. Well, lets just say that this banana muffin recipe rivals my favorite and uses simple ingredients too!! My 3 year old is gobbling one down as i write! Thank you!
