Kid-Approved Sweet and Sour Chicken Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2015
Will be using this as my go to recipe for sweet and sour sauce. I did reduce the sugar to 1/2 cup instead of the 1 cup and found it was sweet enough. My girls frowned upon me putting the pineapple back into the pan so I did leave them out (they came in asking what was for supper and saw the pineapple sitting out and asked why). Hubby said it had good flavor but could be a bit more tangier so next time I think I'll add a bit more vinegar.(I also did not add the optional carrots) Thanks for the recipe! AAA+++

Pam's Bierocks

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2015
Great Bierocks! I will be using this recipe from now on! I will probably add more pepper as I like them peppery. I also did not let it rise the 2nd time. Added the meat, folded the dough over and right into the oven. It did leave about a 1/4 of the dough...which I made cinnamon rolls with so no problem there! Thanks for sharing! :)

Brandy Flamed Peppercorn Steak

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2015
Very tasty. I didn't add the sugar at the end don't think it needs it? Will e making it again. Thanks so much for sharing this recipe. I did as someone suggested and removed the steaks to make the sauce. I then drizzled the sauce over each steak when put on the plate. Yummy! Will be using it regularly. Sooo simple.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Very tasty, very simple and easy. Will be adding this as a regular for fish. I fixed it with baked potatoes and corn. It was a good combination with the lemony fish. Thanks

Zucchini Patties

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2014
Great recipe! I have an abundance of Zucchini to use up and this was perfect. I did as others had suggested and used instant potatoes in place of flour. (I did use unsalted butter instead of oil when frying)That was the only two changes. I made sure to remove as much water as I could. It was a great side dish and will be making this a regular. Thanks for the recipe Sherlie! :)

Chinese Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2014
Will DEFINITELY be making this again. It was very tasty. I did add garlic (2 cloves) as a couple of others had suggested. I also doubled the sauce since I had 1lb 9 oz of meat. Will be adding this to my regular rotation as it was super easy. I marinated the meat for a couple of hours and I think that helped with the flavor and with the tenderness.. Thanks for sharing the recipe!

Pumpkin Pie Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2014
FANTASTIC recipe! I did change one thing...I used a carrot cake spice cake box instead of a yellow cake mix. I think this did the trick in giving it a spice cake flavor without having to add spices to the yellow cake mix. I didn't change anything else. (oh and I didn't measure the 3 cups pumpkin filling...just used 1 can) My husband said it's a "keeper". Will be making it again. Thanks for sharing the recipe. :)

Creamy PHILLY Pesto Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2014
Very tasty served over rice. I did add onions and sauted them before adding the chicken. I used home made pesto and doubled the sauce. I may have added a bit more pesto then in the recipe but I found it to be perfect. Will be making this again. Thanks for sharing!

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2014
Wonderful. I did as several suggested and put the chicken in a bit of flour before frying. Nice and crispy. I also added 1 tbsp. of siracha instead of hot sauce and doubled the sauce recipe. It was the perfect amount of spice and sweet. Will be making this again. Thanks for sharing this great recipe! AAA+++

Pork Tenderloin with Creamy Herb Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2014
This was a great recipe. I did change it up a bit by using diced onions instead of carrots. I thought it had great flavor. I did use fresh herbs at the end as one reader had suggested. I did not double the sauce but just added a bit more milk instead of cream. It did as another reader also commented as the sauce separated towards the end but I just whisked it a bit and it blended somewhat. (could be because I added a splash of milk?) It did not change the great flavor. Will be making this again for sure. Thanks for sharing!

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2014
Great recipe! I loved the flavor. My family said it resembled Manwich but had a bit too much of a "ketchupy" taste so next time I think I'll cut the ketchup down to 1/2 cup like a couple others had commented. I also added a dash of Worcestershire as someone had recommended. Loved the addition. With these couple of tweaks I think I will keep this on my regular to make list for manwich night. So long cans!

Lemon Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: May 13, 2014
I rated it a 4 but would have rated it a 5 if it called for less sugar. I only used 1 cup of powdered sugar as someone else suggested. I made this with the 5 ounces (about 1 cup) and it was perfect. I loved the bright flavor. I used this on a lemon poppy seed cake and it was perfect! Thanks for the recipe!

Taco Bell® Seasoning Copycat

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2014
Family loved it! I think it was spot on! I did double the recipe because I used it on ground deer (which is a bit gamier). Wonderful flavor and I will no longer be buying the taco bell seasonings as I will be using this from now on! Thanks for sharing!

Love this recipe. Very simple and flavorful. I did add a diced onion and one diced red pepper for a bit of crunch, color and added sweetness. Will be making it again. I did do as someone suggested and doubled the sauce...well worth it. Thanks for sharing!

Creamy Pesto Gnocchi with Italian Sausage

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2014
Loved it! I thought it had great flavor and followed the recipe. I used homemade pesto which I think makes a huge difference. Fresh, flavorful basil is the star of the dish. I did also add home grown tomatoes roasted in olive oil last summer...diced up. The tomatoes really vamped up the flavor of the basil. I added light cream as it said too even though several reviews said it wasn't needed. The cream adds...well...creaminess to the whole dish so I don't think I'll leave that out. Thanks for sharing! This will definitely be made again!

Cheesy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2013
This was a hit out Thanksgiving! For the most part I followed the recipe ...I did not put the cheese on the top of it (just in it) and I also added a can of green chilis. Oh, I also added a dash of garlic powder. Will be making this again. Thanks for sharing.

Pumpkin Fudge

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2013
This was great! I did as one reviewer commented and just added the ingredients and did not stir until it reached 110. My little hand mixer would not whip it up so I put it in my kitchenaide and it creamed it beautifully. Will know next time to pour straight into my mixer bowl instead of trying with a small hand blender. HIGHLY recommend. Will be making this again. Thanks for sharing!

Frank's Favorite Slow-Cooker Thai Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2013
I thought this was a quick, delicious dinner! Super easy. I did as suggested and only used 1/2 of the salsa that it says too, and also used whole coconut milk along with creamy peanut butter. Oh and I added a couple tsps of crushed red pepper for a bit of spice. I doubled the sauce because we love extra sauce and the can was 13 ounces so it worked out perfectly. I used powdered ginger as I did not have fresh ginger. Flavor was still wonderful. I served this over rice noodles. I will be making this a regular slow cooker recipe. Thanks for sharing!

Simple, Classic Chicken Potpie

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2013
Fantastic comfort food to the max! I couldn't find my Mum's recipe so I was in search of something similar...found it! :) I did use 2% milk in place of evaporated milk and used all stock. Will be making this again and again. Very down home and wonderful. I did make my own crust with a ration of 1 part flour to 1/4 of butter and 1/4 crisco (by weight) and a dash of salt...My mum's recipe for crust and it's always buttery and flakey. I did do a one pot type of cooking. Did the veggies and instead of heating the milk in the microwave I added the flour to the veggies and cooked for a couple minutes to get rid of the "flour" taste. (the roux) and then added the chicken stock and milk (cold) and stirred briskly then added the chicken back in. Turned out perfect...no lumps. :) Absolutely yummy! Thanks for the recipe!

Candied Almonds

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2013
LOVE LOVE LOVE these! I did as suggested by a couple of others and made sure the liquid was gone and boy oh boy does it go quickly when it does! I also added a splash of vanilla and used brown sugar to get the molasses taste. Will do it this way again. I think I will be adding this to our Christmas gift giving. :) Thanks so much for sharing! This was perfect!
