Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2003
We tried this recipe for dinner last night and it was great! Even my children who have never been crazy for meatloaf came back for seconds. Needless to say, we didn't even have leftovers. The only thing that I did different was to add onion salt rather than onions and bread crumbs instead of crackers. This is a keeper! Thank you!

Deep Dark Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2003
This was my first time to make a cake entirely from scratch and now I would have to be desperate to go back to a boxed cake mix. This was for my husband's birthday and he loved it. It turned out perfect and so did the icing. I doubled the icing recipe since we are chocoholics and love extra icing. My husband, said that the cake was sooo good that it didn't even need icing. The icing is just what it should be -- "icing". We are two happy chocoholics with this rich and super moist recipe. For those of you who had thin icing, add the milk a little at a time until you reach the desired spreading consistency.

Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2003
These are great and oh so easy. My 11 year old daughter loves to bake and she had lots of fun making these. She even invited friends over and made several batches. Easy and delicious cookies. We plan on making some for gifts this Christmas.

Cheese Dip II

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2003
I decided to venture outside of my normal collection of cheese dips and try something new. I am so glad that I did. This dip is good and my family gave it the thumbs up! I made it for the first time last weekend and this weekend I let my family choose which dip they would like. Without hesitation they all picked this one. The only thing that I did differently was to add more hamburger. Thank you for a great recipe! :)

Wonderfully moist and flavorful. We enjoyed this and will be making it again. The only thing that I might do differently is add more spices. This is definitely a keeper. Thank you for this wonderful recipe! :)

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2003
Awesome Recipe! I used a variety of french bread cubes, corn bread, and white loaf bread cubes and added sage sausage. As with any stuffing recipe, you need to judge the amount of broth needed as you mix it all up. Mine was the right consistency going into the crock pot and perfect coming out. I got rave reviews and it was an added bonus to be able to make it the night before, place in refrigerator, pop it in the crock pot first thing in the morning and have my oven available for everything else! This will be my recipe for now on. Thank you Gayle!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2003
These are the best! I add a tsp. of vanilla. We have had these several times already and this last weekend I topped them off with the sauteed apples recipe on this site as well. Absolute heaven. It just doesn't get much better than this. No more boxed pancake mixes for this family. Thank you for sharing Verona!

Creamy Hot Chocolate

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2003
This was very good and creamy and much easier than other recipes. I will be making this again. Just be careful and don't overcook. I put it on low heat to keep warm and it changed the flavor a bit. Next time I will place in a carafe to keep warm. Delicious!

Sauteed Apples

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2003
Yum! These were delicious and the entire family loved them. I used what I had on hand... half red delicious and half granny smith and added a bit more cinnamon since we love it. I cooked them a little longer since my kids like them tender. We served them over the Good Old Fashioned Pancakes recipe that is also on this site. The combination made a heavenly breakfast. We will definitely be making these on a regular basis and yes, they did remind us of the apples at Boston Market. Thank you for sharing Jenny!

Chicken or Turkey Tetrazzini Deluxe

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2003
My family enjoyed this recipe and asked that I definitely make it again. I skipped the minced onion and green pepper and added onion salt to the butter instead. I also skipped the sherry and Worcestershire sauce and added some Velveeta along with the shredded cheese to make it creamier and served it right from the stove instead of baking. We shredded Parmesan cheese on it at the table. This was a delicious way to use up leftover turkey.

Sugar Coated Pecans

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2003
Awesome recipe that we will be making over and over again. I did as suggested and increased the cinnamon to 3/4 tsp. I also used mexican vanilla instead of water. My husband said that these taste better than the ones at the mall. Thank you for sharing!

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2003
Made this for the second time and can't say enough about how wonderful it is. I used a latice crust and mixed half of the sauce with the apples before placing into the crust and poured the remaining sauce over the top after I finished the top crust. I also added 1 tsp. of cinnamon to the sauce and sprinkled a bit on the top. It turned out picture perfect and tasted fabulous! Thank you for sharing!

Peppermint Patties

Wonderful recipe! After shaping, I put in the freezer for about an hour and then dipped in melted semi sweet chocolate chips. They turned out pretty and tasted great! I will be making these as gifts for the holidays next year!

Tasty Buns

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2003
OMG! I just pulled these out of the oven and I am thrilled! These were super simple to make. Not only do they smell wonderful and look great but I just ate one plain and they taste wonderful as well. We will be eating them shortly for chopped beef sandwiches. I can already tell that I will be making these often. Thank you sooo much for sharing!

Caramel Snack Mix

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2004
We loved this!! Even though my husband prefers the traditional chex snack mix, I took a chance on something different. We have had our hands in it all day and it is almost gone. Even the kids can't stop eating it. This recipe will be at the top of my food gift recipes. I used Cinnamon Cripix which added a wonderful hint of cinnamon. I also threw in salted peanuts, pecan halves, and waffle shaped pretzels. It was all wonderful. I even made this on a rainy humid day in Texas and it still came out crunchy. We don't like recipes that stick to our teeth. For Christmas next year, I plan on adding red and green M&Ms after it cools to give it some color as well as chocolate to go with this wonderful toffee snack before placing it in glass holiday jars. Thank you for sharing!

Chicken Enchilada Dip

I made this for New Year's Eve and it was good but not quite what I was hoping for. The kids thought it was good too but nothing that I can see them begging me to make again.

Brown Sugar Smokies

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2004
We made these for New Year's Eve and they were gone in no time. Everyone enjoyed this one. I used toothpicks and made individual ones instead of the skewers. I soaked my toothpicks in water and they came out looking good and tasted great!

Not quite what I was hoping for. I love hot spiced drinks but this is not one that I will be making again. It smells good but the flavor just isn't there.

Roast Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2004
I used olive oil and added a few more spices. An easy quick side dish. Just make sure that you serve immediately, they don't taste as good after they cool.
