Happy Birthday Daddy!
About this Cook
I am a happily married mother of two beauties (5 & 7) with a love of cooking that was born in 2002 ( same year as my oldest) and nurtured between this site and Rachel Rays 30 minute meals show. I always wanted to be known as a great cook like my grandmother. ( rest her soul) but never thought I could or really tried until then. I love this site & Rachel Ray for showing me that it can be fast, easy, affordable, healthy and delicious! Since then I've grown over the years and my cooking has too. Cooking is my zen, keeps me & my family healthy, well fed, ( even in these tough times) and around the kitchen table. The way families should be!
My favorite things to cook
Hmm.. Antything my kids will eat ; )! Mexican, pasta, pizzas, steaks, stir fries, my from scratch sauces..
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making everyone a special cake on their birthday! Our indoor hot dogs, smores, and hot chocolate I. That first snow day from school. Baking cookies with my kids.
My cooking triumphs
My first attempt at crepes.. They came out perfect! Finally getting my pot roast to taste just like grandmas!! My first broiled herb whole chicken..
My cooking tragedies
Ohhh.. The first time I tried to kick up jar bought pasta sauce and make it extra garlicky for my new ( at the time) hubby. I added a Ton of garlic SALT... Ewww.. I still shudder... My first attempt at homemade apple sauce cake, for got the baking soda.. It as all different colors and tastes! And when I tried to make chic chip cookies with splenda. Gross.. Dnt ever do it!

Vanilla Crepes
These were my first attempt at making crepes ever! Definitely won't be my last... I made the recipe as is, although I did add just a splash more milk. Delicious! A perfect golden color, and great texture! Mine were a little thick, but that's just because I need more practice. For hubby and kids filled with some leftover cream cheese fruit dip, and topped with strawberry glaze. For mine, left it flat. Topped with the leftover egg whites, cheddar cheese. And sausage gravy, again, delicious! Kind of like a breakfast pizza.. Will make again & again.. Make sure you sift the flour though, I know it made a big difference!

Fruit Pizza with White Chocolate
WOW!! I took this to our July 4th family picnic and everybody loved it!! I used blueberries and rasberries, and my own sugar cookie dough recipe (but only b/c I had some frozen) it was delish. The only reason I brought some home is b/c my husband hid some to bring home :) Will definitely make again.

Brown Sugar Smokies
YUMMMMY!!! That's all I have to say. I took tips from other reviewers and used LOTS more brown sugar and let it soak in for awhile. I let them bake and then stuck them on broil for a few min. to crisp up the bacon. Will make again!!
