So, did I mention that I have a food booth as well? Yes the title is the name of the business. I had an old retro t-shirt that was advertising for a mythical BBQ joint called "Queenie's".  Loved the name ever since! Got a license from the State and started hitting the events last summer. We… MORE

OK, this list isn't as long as you would expect. Once you get burned a couple of times, you stick with what's working! Baked Potato Bar - This was too hard because of all of the fixings. We had chili, bacon, broccoli, sour cream, shredded cheese, green onions, and butter.  People were aski MORE

OK, some of you have been asking so I'll tell you our rotation. What has worked and what hasn't: Italian with Red Sauce - we intentionally leave it open ended like that so we have the flexibility to improv according to sale items. This one works every time, and I still refuse to serve… MORE

Here's one more story. After our first year of dinners, we had a building fund campaign. My Pastor approached me and said; "Damon, for the big finale of the drive when people turn in their pledge cards, we'd like to have a whole church sit down dinner." Well, that kind of got me… MORE

So, I thought I'd try this blogging thing. I was approached three years ago by some church ladies, and asked me if I would help start a dinner on Wednesday nights for our church. We would serve once a week during the school year (September through May). We tried to come up with a menu. We… MORE

About Me
I'm a self taught cook because I started getting home from work before my wife. We have four beautiful girls, three of which are married. We have seven beautiful grand babies that we adore! We have a 14 year old (yes, same marriage!) living at home. I have fallen in love with cooking!
My favorite things to cook
Anything Italian and anything on the grill. We recently started a ministry at church where we cook dinner every Wednesday night for about 150 people. It's a blast!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Fondues on Christmas Eve, and a smorgasbord brunch at Thanksgiving
My cooking triumphs
People actually ask me to cook now!!
My cooking tragedies
I haven't had any dishes end up in the trash yet. I don't know what that says about the people I feed!!!
