Easy Peach Cobbler II

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
This is a yummy cobbler. I cut the sugar to 1 cup, used butter instead of margarine and added vanilla and cinnamon to the wet mixture. Who knew bread would make a great topping?

Hungarian Goulash II

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2011
This was so tasty. I seasoned the beef cubes with salt, pepper, garlic powder, seared it with some olive oil then put in crockpot. I then added the onion into the skillet cooked until tender added all the other sauce ingredients until mixed, placed sauce in crockpot then cooked as instructed. I substituted beef broth for the water. Very good flavor.

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2011
Very good. Will make again. Made some changes according to what I had on hand. Didn't use sherry, used crushed cracker crumbs instead of bread crumbs. I chopped up the onions instead of slicing and added fresh sliced mushrooms.

These were great. I didn't have biscuits so I used crescent rolls instead and no oregano either. Will make again.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2011
Great recipe. Following some of the recommendations I put the glaze on top of the meatloaf. I also sauteed the onions, used 1 lb.ground turkey and 1/2 lb of ground beef and I left out the ginger. Made great sandwiches the next day. This will replace my old meatloaf recipe.

Slow Cooker Texas Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2011
This was a very moist tender pulled pork recipe. I added 1/4 c of vinegar as others recommended but think I may cut that down even more and not use the thyme. My husband loved it . I served with Mom's coleslaw recipe (find here at allrecipes) and whole wheat toasted hamburger buns....very tasty.

Chicken Stew with Dumplings

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2011
Great recipe. Like others I used a store bought rotisserie chicken that I shredded into large chunks. I first sauteed chopped onions in some evoo and butter. Next I put the chicken bones with 5c of water, 2 low sodium chcken bouillion, the spices and a bay leaf and cooked that for 30min. Removed the bones and bay leaf then added the chicken and cooked for 10 minutes. Added the vegetables minus the onions and cooked as per recipe. I halved the dumpling recipe for just the 2 of us. The dumplings are wonderful and really make this dish and I will not half the recipe next time...lol...and there will be a next time.

Savory Slow-Cooked Chicken Cacciatore

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2011
This was a good basic recipe. I made the following modifications. I seasoned the chicken breasts with garlic powder, salt and pepper then browned it in olive oil/butter. I added the chopped onions to the skillet and cooked until tender. I made in the sauce in the crockpot as instructed but added 2 low salt chicken bouillion cubes and some red pepper flakes. I didn't add the peppers and mushroms until half of the cooking was done.

Split Pea Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2011
This is a great soup and gets better as is sits longer. I made a few changes like some of the other reviewers suggested. I sauteed the onion in EVOO then added hamhocks. Add one low sodium beef broth bouillion cube, a couple of bays leaves and 4 cups water and let that cook for 1 hr. I added the peas, 2 c chicken broth and cooked for another hour. Then added the vegetables.

Southwest White Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2011
I've made this chili twice..my hubby loves it. I replaced the water with chicken broth, used white small beans, leftover rotisserie chicken and increased the chili powder to 6 tsp and cumin to 3 tsp and added some pepper flakes. Served with corn muffins that I added corn and cheddar cheese to. So tasty and easy.

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
This was a wonderful and easy desert. My hubby loved it. I made half the recipe, used 1/4 c brown sugar, 1/4 white sugar, 4 oz mountain dew and it came out sweet. On the second day reheated it a warm oven that I had just baked lasagne in and it was just as good.
