Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2004
I have yet to find a great slow cooker recipe. I was excited to try out this recipe after reading all the reviews but was greatly diappointed. It DID smell good, but did not taste good - I won't make this again.

Roasted Vegetables

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2004
Excellent recipe! I found that it works better if you cook the vegetables in different batches. First, start with onions, bell peppers (I used red, orange, yellow peppers. Looked really pretty), potatoes, and sweet potatoes. After about 25 minutes, I added zucchini and asparagas. This way, the latter vegetables don't get overcooked. You can add other vegetables too, just make sure you time them so that they all get cooked perfectly. The sweet potatoes are great in this recipe!

Award Winning Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2004
My husband, who's a big chili-lover, loves this recipe. It tastes great over rice, noodles, inside a bread-bowl, and by itself! I added cheddar cheese, extra cilantro, and raw chopped white onions on the top. It makes for great presentation and makes it taste even better.

Lemon Ginger Shrimp

This was REALLY good and so easy to make! Next time I would marinate the shrimp overnight. Thanks for the recipe!

Shrimp and Avocado Salad

Reviewed: May 15, 2004
Something was a little off... didn't taste bad but wasn't great either. I didn't care for the dressing, a store-bought Louie dressing is much better.

Barbequed Marinated Flank Steak

Reviewed: May 15, 2004
This was pretty good... but I do agree with the other reviewers that it lacks a "kick." Basically a good teriyaki flavor, nothing wrong with that.

Spinach and Strawberry Salad

This was good, but it was even better when I added thinly sliced red onions and toasted slivered almonds.

I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out too sour - I would add less lemon juice next time.

Scallop Scampi

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2004
This was really good. The only thing I'd change next time is adding the parmesan cheese. It made the sauce lumpy. Next time, I'll just sprinkle parmesan at the very end.

Shrimp Etouffee II

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2004
After reading the reviews, I made this on stove-top... had some reservations about microwaving shrimp. This recipe is easy & quick, but it doesn't taste all that great. It's TOO thick & rich.

Baingan Bharta (Eggplant Curry)

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2004
Baingan Bharta is my favorite dish at our local Indian restaurant so I was excited about making this at home. However, this didn't taste anything like the restaurant dish. One taste and it went down our garbage disposal. Biggest problem was that the yogurt made it really sour... Maybe if you use the authentic Indian yogurt and curry it may work out better.
