Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2014
Thank you for this easy recipe! It's great because I always have these ingredients on hand, and it so simple! Taste great too! For the people who complained that this is not a high end restaurant style Alfredo sauce, is ridiculous thing to say, because the recipe states "quick and easy". I only had onion and chive cream cheese on hand, but still it turned out outstanding. Thank you! His is a keeper!

Russian Mushroom and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2013
Know up front that I had to tweak this recipe, but still giving it 5 stars because the base of it is outstanding. I did not have leeks and used a whole chopped onion instead. I also used chicken bullion granules for chicken broth, and sour cream in lieu of half and half. I left some of the skins on the potatoes because that is how my husband and I prefer it. Crazy good soup! I was concerned about the dill, but it was just what this soups needs for a little kick. Soooo good, will be doubling recipe next time.

Triple-Chocolate Cookie Balls

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2013
If I followed this recipe correctly, these are not great; in addition, they are very very messy to make, and take up so much room in fridge/freezer. Where I think I may have gone wrong in the recipe, is mixing the pudding mix and milk with a mix master for two minutes... the material turned out very sticky and rubbery, making it near impossible to make nice round balls even when the cookies were added. It was like handling thick caulk. Thanks for the recipe, I won't be making these again.

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2013
This was outstanding. I followed recipe exact. I would suggest that you get the chicken a crispier when browning.... I did not do that and the chicken was a little soggy, but the overall flavor made up for it in the end. Keeper!

French Onion Soup II

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2013
So sorry, but this was so bland!! Followed recipe exact, and used yellow onions. After it was completed, I added a bit more worchershire, then soy sauce, then Lawrys, then a packet of au jus. I won't be making this again, I will bite the bullet and use wine next time as most recipes for French onion soup call for it, and other specialty spices. Good luck!

Jalapeno Snacks

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2012
I just made these for a football party we had, and they were a hit. I always put a lot of time into making tasty-good hearty appetizers, but this particular recipe gave me the most rave reviews ever. Two guys told me that it was one of the best things they've ever eaten. My husband is on his way to the grocery store right now to buy more ingredients so I can make more for him today. I followed the recipe perfectly. THANK YOU for the great recipe, I plan to use this one often! :)

Scalloped Potatoes and Onions

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2011
So simple and awesome! Loved it! I had 4 tablespoons of butter left in my fridge, so I just threw it all in thinking that the extra tbsp would enhance it, but it didn't, made it more oily. So don't feel that you have to add more butter, it doesn't need it. If you use a 13x9 cake pan, this will cook a lot quicker, took just an hour. Keeper!

Fluffy Biscuits

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2011
Very good! The moment they come out of the oven and even two days later! They fluff up awesome, look professional. Could use more salt, or baking soda. hey come out of the oven, and two days later! I think this recipe could use more salt or baking soda... not sure what it is.

Chunky Cheesecake Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2011
I made these last night. After they came out of the oven, I let them cool for about a half hour, tried them and they were "ok", it woulda been a 3-4 star recipe. I put them in the fridge over night and just ate another one moments ago... and WHOA... so much BETTER!!! I would recommend cooling them in the fridge before serving! It's like they were cakey last night, and more chewy today.

Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2011
I shouldn't be able to give this a five star rating, since I didn't follow the recipe exact. But I wanted to share with the people out there who don't have butter on hand... using all lard/crisco still makes this cookie awesome! This is a keeper either way. Oh... AND DONT COOK AS LONG! Take the cookies out when the tops look dry and have small cracks. Do not wait until the cookie browns. When they cool, they are chewier and so delicious!

Fresh Southern Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2011
Didn't have all ingredients; used canned peaches so I reduced white sugar a bit, used flour instead of corn starch, used regular butter instead of unsalted butter (still used recommened 1/2 ts. salt), and I didn't have lemon juice so I skipped that. Great starter recipe if you're hankerin' peach cobbler... you can sub out any ingredient and it still turns out GREAT! Keeper!!

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2011
YUM!!! My son wanted pancakes for lunch, and we didn't have any mix. Found this recipe, made them up, and they are the best I've ever had! Can't wait to make them for my husband! Vinegar grossed me out, but you can't taste it at all.

Strawberry Twinkie Dessert

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2011
I thought this was delicious, however, the reason for the 4-star rating, is because my husband thought the twinkies tasted processed, and suggested using homemade sponge cake next time. Also, when I make this again, I will switch the order of the strawberries and cream.. I'd recommend putting the strawberries over the spongecake, then top with whipped cream mixture.

The Best Bacon-Tomato Dip

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2011
Eh, this was ok, seemed pretty common. I was expecting a spectacular dip, but it was like any other one there. I have to say however, that it did go over well at my party. I served ritz with it, you may want to consider something different to help spruce things up... otherwise it's really nothing special, common.

Savory Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2011
Man this was so easy and good!! Like others who've reviewed this recipe and had suggestions, I too suggest that you add another can of soup, and stuffing mix instead of bread crumbs. I also served it with rice, and found that the extra soup gave me more sauce for the rice. Oh, and I also used chicken tenders instead of breasts... I like to get two pieces of chicken that are more manageable to eat, and they're thinner than a breast. Keeper!!!

Mound Bars

Reviewed: May 31, 2011
I want to give this a four star, but I didn't follow directions right... however I tried. I started with the cracker crust, and added a bit more. I doubled the coconut mixture because it barely covered the crust. Which lead me to double the chocolate because that too barely covered the coconut filling. Everything turned out fine and the flavor is wonderful, but I would suggest NOT doubling the chocolate... it's too much and overbearing on taste. Try to skim it over the coconut if you can... or perhaps just dot the choc chips over the coconut mixture and throw in oven for a bit.

Best Egg Rolls

Reviewed: May 5, 2011
Two problems for me. One, very bland recipe as is. I ended up adding more spices and soy sauce. Two, I had a hard time cooking up the egg rolls. This is the first time attempting to make them, and didn't know that I needed to moisten the spring roll sheets first (there wasn't instructions on the package either). They also didn't turn golden brown when fried, instead they turned out crispy white. I love egg rolls and hope to try making them again. This recipe gave me a foundation, but I think I needed more guidance in frying, and will research better spices.

Danish Pastry Apple Bars II

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2011
One complaint: There needs to be more dough crust. After I divided the dough and rolled it out, I didn't have enough to comfortably fill the bottom crust or top. The top ended up spotty. Also, I wish I had seen in the directions before hand that egg white is needed, because once I got the egg yolk prepared I threw the egg white out because it wasn't listed in the ingredient list. Had to crack another egg (no big deal, but still). Other than my complaining, the desert was wonderful!! Keeper!

Mouse's Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2011
A few people suggested to double the noodles.. DO NOT do that! Keep to the recipe! I followed exact, and it turned out wonderful; even my picky husband even commented on it. When you prepare the sauce, it may seem excessive compared to the noodles, but once you mix everything up and bake it, the noodles soak up a lot of the sauce. It turns out perfect and creamy. YUM!

Baked Potato Skins

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2011
This is my most requested snack. People love them. I've made it with baked potatos and microwaved, and they do turn out better when they're baked. But if you have friends pop in on you, they are still awesome when nuked. Keeper!
