French Baguettes

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2011
very nice bread. I made mine with a mixer so there is no need for a bread maker. you may want to bake them in a baguette pan to help them keep shape, nice taste great for eating plain with butter or a nice ham and cheese sandy

Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: May 4, 2011
i have made these cookies twice now both times follow the recipe to the T and both times they came out a little on the flat side. Other than that the do taste great were moist even after 5 days. yes they are sweet but i like sweet so its ok by me. I may try them again but will chill the dough first or cook them at 350. either may prevent the cookies from spreading too much

Zeppole

Reviewed: May 12, 2011
as an italian from da bronx i have had many zeppole in my life. after makeing these the first time i thought they were just ok. size was good fluffy and yes you are supposed to use ricotta in them. i found the taste not 100%. i think i may have used a little too much salt but something still seemed off i'm not quite sure what is off about them. i will have afew friends try them and ask what they think. i will try to make them again and tweek it a bit and then review again

Costas French Market Doughnuts (Beignets)

Reviewed: May 20, 2011
i made these in a deep fryer in extra vir oliv oil. they have great taste and were well enjoyed. the dough is easy to work with and would work well with any bread recipe. i may use this as a pizza crest next. the key is to use a good quality confection sugar at the end.

Pizzelles III

nice flavor easy to work with the dough one of the tricks it to use a good high quality vanilla extract not the fake stuff that comes in the little plastic bot.

Three Cheese Spaghetti Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2011
not a bad little dish. dont use the pie shell as it is not needed. you can even make about 2 lbs of the pasta and use a reg. lasagna pan if you need more then the 9 inch pie shell bowl makes. of couse most of this depends on how good the sauce is

Slow-Cooker Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2011
gave 4 stars only because it is not pepper steak as true pepper steak is most often a stir fry dish. this is more of a chopped steak with peppers dish and it is very good. if you use a good grade of meat it will come out very tender i recommend the extra time and low setting as this really gets the meat done the way it should be

Miller's Marinara

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2011
this is a very nice sauce that will work for many pasta dishes. change the amount of salt to 2 tea spoons and you will be ok. as many others said it must be a misprint as the table spoons will kill this sauce. i would recomend the slow cooker way as this will really brino out all the flavors. you may also want to remove some of the oil that will come to the top at the end of the 8 hours although you can just mix it back in if you like. i prefer to remove it myself

Moroccan Meat Cigars

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2011
i did not care for this dish at all as i did not like the flavor and blend of the spices. i still gave this a 3 star because on of my guest loved them and asked to take some home. i think these would work better with a nice thin bread dough as opposed to the phyllo dough which i found to be too thin and flakey and lacking in both body and flavor. also a nice dipping sauce of some kind would really pick this dish up a lot
