1st Place White Bean Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2010
I made this for a Chili-cookoff at church and won. It is spicy, but very comforting at the same time. Make sure it suits your tastes, and really enjoy it. My family loves spice, so this is good for us. Oh, one caution, if you use canned jalapenos, it will be very, very spicy, using fresh peppers you can control the heat.

Brownie Biscotti

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2009
These are excellent...my son made these for his final in baking class. (He got an A). He brought me home some to try and I am adding them to my Christmas cookie list. He did not add the egg wash or the walnuts (allergy) and they were excellent...I'm so proud!

Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2009
I love this cornbread recipe...I make it all the time. You don't have to do anything to it differently, just mix, combine and bake. I allow my cornmeal to soak while I mix the rest of the dry ingredients. I mix the eggs and oil into the milk and cornbread. Then combine the two bowls together, couldn't be easier. Love it, Love it , Love it!

Amy's Mexican Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2009
OMGoodness! This is so good, I think I am going to use this recipe to win the chili cookoff at church this year. I did add a whole jalapeno minced to the onions and the garlic. Oh, I am a cumin lover so I added a couple of tablespoons of that too, also a little paprika. YUMMY!

Owen's BBQ Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2009
Oh wow! This makes some good bbq chicken...I am sorry, but I did do this in the oven. It came out great. The skin of the chicken browned. I cooked it at 250 for about 4-5 hours and it was great.

I love these brownies...esp. when I run out of butter and it is 9:30 at night and I can't fight that late night chocolate craving. Perfect chocolate taste...this time extra chocolate chips are going in. YUMMMM!

Potato and Cauliflower Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2009
I have to say, my 16 year old was so mad when I told him that it was cauliflower..."MOM, I HATE CAULIFLOWER!" Then he tasted it, (making an ugly face the whole time) and tasted it again, and then again...when it was all said and done, he probably ate at least 1/3 of the casserole...too funny! It was really good. I will make this again and again. Oh yeah, I boiled the potatoes and steamed the cauliflower at the same time (over the potatoes in a basket).

Pork Chops to Live For

This was really good. I will make this again. My mom makes this in the oven without the soup, next time I will add more liquid.

Cumin Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2009
Loved these burgers...these are now my families favorite burgers and we have tried a lot of burgers from this site. I put my burgers in the freezer for 2 hours before I put them on the grill. Not a problem at all with them. *One very important thing, I did not add an egg with all of the wet and only added 1/2 of the liquids.*

Chile Verde II

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2009
This is great. Just a little side note, be careful after cutting up all of the pepper not to touch your face or eyes...they are not really hot enough to burn your mouth, but hot enough to burn your skin.

This was great! I served it at church for a special speaker and everyone raved about it. The speaker's wife actually asked for the recipe.

Mexican Pizza II

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2009
I bake my tortillas in the oven first, then pour on some red enchilada sauce, them the middles, then other tortilla, then more red sauce, then cheese, then bake for 10 minutes more, then add all the rest of the toppings...OMGosh, this is one of my families favorite.

Grilled Buffalo Wings

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2009
If I could give this 10 stars, I would, all my husband could say was "these are awesome", "man these are awesome". My husband and I went on a vacation to the mountains and I grilled these for us...it was way easier than I thought it would be. I set a timer for 5 minutes and instead of flipping, I put them into the pot of sauce for 5 minutes, then took them out and turned them on the other side...you get the picture. I will be making these again.

Dump Cake II

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2009
I love this recipe. I am sorry, I do mine a little bit different, I melt my butter and stir it in. I use the pineapple juice in the butter mixture. Then I smear it on top of the fruit and cook it for about 35 minutes or until it is lightly browned and nice and bubbly.

Grandma's English Muffin Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2009
I love this bread. I make it all of the time. It is the only bread that my kids like that I bake. There is one thing; I do however just half the bread equally and put it in two bread pans of equal size.

These were GREAT! I did sub 1/2 of the sour cream with 1/2 cup of green salsa. Other than that these are wonderful.
