About this Cook
Was married very young. Had 4 kids. Learned to get by on not alot,but loved to create good dishes. Married a second time now. All the kids are grown and I am a GREAT-GRANDMA now! I love cooking things that make my chidren and Grandchildren and now, GREAT-Grandchild happy. My second husband thinks I am a fantastic cook, altho I know I am just a good cook, but he insists I am wrong. After almost 21 years of marriage, he still tells me that!
My favorite things to cook
Most favorite are whatever my husband, kids or grandchildren want. It makes me feel so good to see them gobble it up because they love it. My daughters have become great cooks too.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I make some homemade noodles that are a tradition with my kids and now Grandkids for 25 years or more, every night before our Christmas celebration. One of the best times was when two of my grandchildren wanted to learn to cook the noodles! My oldest son loved a dish called "DUMPLINGS ON TOP POT OF STEWED CHICKEN". He still swears I made HIM the whole recipe and made the rest of the family something else when I made that. Not true, but who's going to tell him? He'll be 48 this year and I can't disappoint the kid! :-}
My cooking triumphs
Actually, it is when I make up recipes as I go along, putting together what I have and choosing what I think whould make it great tasting...and then it comes out even better than I thought it would. The best is when my husband or family members say "Mom, this is absolutely DELICIOUS!
My cooking tragedies
GROANNNN... too many to try to remember! I do remember one year the noodles that everyone loves so much, had to get made with more wheat flower than white, (I was out of white!) and the kids were all very polite, but disappointed!

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan
As usual, I was out of an ingredient right when I decide to try it. I had no Mayo. Being I do this so often, I just tried to think of what would be a good substitute. I used 1TBS Miracle Whip (light) + 1 TBS Deans French Onion Dip(fatFree) + 1TBS Sour Cream(lowFat). My hubby, who always makes a face at new things, absolutely LOVED the fish! So did I! It didn't actually leave a crunchy coating on it. It was more like a delicious melted cheese of a new sorts! Fantastic! Will make it again and again. So quick! So GOOD!!

Red, White and Blue Slaw Salad
I made this salad even though I didn't think my hubby would like it. I wanted to try it however and went ahead and made it. I was shocked when my husband decided he would try it (without my begging for him to "just taste it!") He LOVED IT! I LOVED IT! We both were so pleased with this that it will be made again and again.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople
This pie is THE BEST! I almost didn't make it as it is put together different than an ordinary apple pie. But I decided to make it, along with a regular apple pie and let my husband be the judge. This pie turned out not only awsome in taste, but the look of the pie was picture perfect. This pie won our vote! I will use this recipe from now on whenever we want an apple pie.
