A young'un; I am 22 years old and was born and raised in South Louisiana. Just graduated UT Austin with a Bachelor's degree in English. Now I'm trying to get back to promised land and into Vet School in Baton Rouge.

Gumbo, Cortvillion, Thai Beef with Coconut Rice, bread (just got a stand mixer for Christmas), Cheesecakes, fried catfish, pancakes, curries...etc
My favorite family cooking traditions
My dad and I used to make no-bake chocolate peanut butter cookies when I was a little girl. I would sit on the counter and hand him the right measuring cups and he would give me the spoon to lick.
My cooking triumphs
I make a Cortvillion that will make your heart flutter (and your arteries scream). It has a perfect golden roux and the fish melts in your mouth. I snagged my significant other with it.
My cooking tragedies
I left a bolognase (sp) sauce to simmer once for a romantic dinner and went to the grocery store for something, but I had forgotten to turn the burner down and the sauce burned. To add insult to injury my apartment smelled horrid, and my mastiff puppy wouldn't even eat that burned sauce, and he eats dead birds.
