About this Cook
I am a pollotarian who loves to try new things. My first love is baking, but lately I've really enjoyed trying new recipes and adapting them for myself, my vegetarian daughter and carnivorous husband. When not on the road traveling, I'm usually found in the kitchen cooking up something new.
My favorite things to cook
Any kind of cookies, quick breads, yeast breads that can start in my bread machine and new recipes I've found on AllRecipes.com, particularly for comfort foods.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking for the people I love.
My cooking triumphs
Adapting recipes that call for beef or pork to vegetarian!
My cooking tragedies
Still working on the perfect Nutella Brownie recipe.

Teriyaki Salmon
The marinade was very easy to make and tasty. I think my salmon would have benefited from marinading longer than I allowed, about an hour and a half. I would try several hours next time. Thanks for the recipe!

Simple Scones
I made the Lemon-Blueberry version to go with some Lemon Curd I'd made recently. So delicious, even without additional accouterments! To address the review by melissathebaker who found the scones too cake-like, I found that as the days passed (I was the only one eating these, so they lasted several days), they got a little more dried out, even stored in a Snapware container, and became more of the biscuit-like texture she was seeking and never got stale. Highly recommend! I'll be making up a dry mix pack to go with the lemon curd I canned as a gift for a friend.

Authentic Louisiana Red Beans and Rice
Made this for husband today. He loves it! Didn't even add any hot sauce or additional Cajun seasoning, which is unheard of around here. Perfect!
