I'm 21, I live at home with my fiancé (my parents are occasionally around too!). I'm a working nursing student so I don't have a ton of time to cook, but when I do, I make it count.
My favorite things to cook
Anything! I love making things that my family looks forward to because they know I make them well, like chili, burgers, soup, italian food, or chicken & stuffing casserole.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cookies at christmas! You can buy red and green anything at the grocery store in december, but what I love having at Christmas are the family-recipe cookies that no one else has even heard of, like: butterscotch pecan/almond refrigerator cookies, and these awesome oatmeal cookies my mom makes with dried cherries, chocolate chips, pecans and orange zest. Pumpkin bread (with golden raisins, or nuts) is always something I look forward to at Thanksgiving also. Raisin sauce for ham at Christmas, as well as corn casserole are also favorites. My dad's from a more southern tradition- he makes the best biscuits and sausage gravy :)
My cooking triumphs
Everyone who has tasted my chili LOVES it! It's one of my no-fail recipes, it's impossible to screw it up. I also make pretty good meatballs, and awesome burgers- I have a great "marinade" for those.
My cooking tragedies
Bacon! I always burn it because I think it doesn't look cooked enough (my family are notoriously british when it comes to their meat's doneness)... So, I make my fiancé tell me when he thinks it's done.
