About this Cook
Because I am a full time student I am unable to cook during the week, but I take great joy in trying new recipes during the weekends. I love new recipes, and fresh ingredients. I am always looking for a new vegetarian dish to try, as well as trying to reteach myself how to cook meat with my boyfriend.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are soups and breads. I love the warm smells and feelings with a loaf of bread in the oven. I also love the challenge and great variety in soups.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite family cooking tradition has to be our general randomness in our cooking. My parents both just throw dishes together, tasting and adding whatever the feel is right to a recipe. No one dish is the same.
My cooking triumphs
I was so proud when we pulled off making our first souffle. It was perfectly light and moist. Since then I have happily pulled off a tasty stake, challah bread, and modifying a well-loved spinach soup recipe into a tasty gluten-free treat.
My cooking tragedies
We tried making tamales recently. Though they were very tasty, the presentation was horrible. The tamales stuck to the wax paper (because we could not find corn husks anywhere), and then there was trying to find a way to steam them without a steamer! Another time was trying to make wild race. It ended up taking twice as long as the instructions suggested, and still came out very soupy and not particularly tasty.

Sawmill Gravy
My boyfriend loved this gravy! Goes perfectly with biscuits and fried eggs for a hearty splurge of a breakfast.

Hungarian Stuffed Yellow Peppers
These were really tasty! I used spicy Italian sausage instead of ground beef, and precooked the rice to help cut the cooking time down. Also added a little bit of cheese on top.

Fresh Asparagus Soup
We made this soup for our family, and it was a huge hit. You get the perfect taste of fresh asparagus, and we often pair it with some peasant bread.
