I love to cook, just hate the figuring out what to cook part :P I'm a pretty good cook and enjoy experiementing with new recipes and flavors. Recently, I've developed an interest in becoming more educated about my cooking. I wish to learn more about the foods I use and can use as well as the tools of the trade. I also wish to learn new techniques.
My favorite things to cook
I love anything with alot of flavor. Fresh foods, veggies, experimenting with spices, always a favorite for me. My latest discovery that I've been making so much my family is sick of it is Garlic Brown Sugar Chicken. I love to make this and put it on top of either white rice or noodles. (so good!)
My favorite family cooking traditions
On New Year's we make appetizers to help ring in the New Year. We don't really have any other cooking traditions of my son is extremely interested in cooking and loves to help me in the kitchen. I'm really trying to nourish this. Maybe he'll be the next Gordon Ramsey :) (but nicer, lol)
My cooking triumphs
Not making anyone sick, lol.
My cooking tragedies
I like to try to mimic restaurant recipes so we can enjoy them at home and save the money. I had found a recipe for The Olive Garden's Ravioli Di Portobello which is one of my favorites from the chain. I got the filling perfect but my ravioli wasn't like ravioli. It puffed up into this huge dough pillows or something. Although the flavors were there in my filling and sun dried tomato sauce, the ravioli ruined it. I haven't tried to tackle it again yet. I've thought about just buying the ravioli to fill myself but that's just not as much fun to me as trying it from scratch.
