As per suggestions: I seasoned meat (& potatoes), I browned the chops, I fried bacon used grease in dutch oven and set aside bacon for dinner. This was a very tasty meal! Easy peasy!

Sweet Pumpkin Seeds

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2010
I wanted to refrain from rating because I dont know what went wrong...I followed the directions, but it was a disaster! :( I tried 2 different trays with the same end result, hardened, candified, stuck on seeds that I eventually had to heat up and scrape off the pans. Anyway, the house smelled good...

Pig Slop

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2010
We added more chili (just a personal preference), omitted red pepper and ate it over rice since the kids don't like cornbread. Very good!

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2010
I've been searching for and trying trying to find a great homemade mac and cheese recipe...I've FOUND it! I used a 2qt baking dish & chose to sprinkle cheese on top instead of bread crumbs. Also, the only modifications I'd make next time (for my family's personal preference) is use less cottage cheese and more sour cream...

Roasted Pumpkin Seeds

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2010
It was a very easy recipe...I just took clean seeds from 3 pumpkins, soaked them in heavily salted water for several hours, drained them, spread them loosely on many different cookie sheets, let them air dry for a few hours then one at a time put them in a 300 degree oven for 40 minutes (used a metal spatula to "stir" around at the 20 min mark) and put them in an airtight container out of the oven.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2007
I had leftover bananas and decided to make bread, I didn't have a loaf pan so I doubled the recipe (I added cinnamon btw) and poured it in a buttered 9x13 dish. 8 minutes into the oven I sat to read some reviews, someone mentioned not using butter...BUTTER? This recipe called for butter?! Oops! *lol* I quickly removed the dish from the oven and quickly mixed in a cup of applesauce. I found the taste a little bland so next time I'll definately add more cinnamon and infuse other spices as suggested in other reviews, maybe even some apple chunks. It made a nice snack cake overall though. Thanks for the recipe!

Buttery Cooked Carrots

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2007
This ones a definate keeper! As per other reviews I didn't reserve any water...thank goodness because the water on the carrots alone prohibited the butter and brown sugar from thickening much. I ended up putting a bit of thickener in and it carmelized perfectly! I also added a bit of cinnamon (as suggested by others) and it was so delicious. Thanks for the recipe.

Apple Crumble Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2007
I made this recipe on Friday...it was eaten within 2 days and was asked to make it again today! The pie was easy to make and delicious to eat. After reading some of the reviews I also made following adjustments: #1. Bake @ 350 for 1 hr & #2 Added a bit of flour to the sugar & cinnamon mixture in which I added gradually as I tossed the apples. Thanks for the recipe!

American Apple Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2002
This pie was awesome! Next time I'll use less apples because it was just TOO full and a bit of the juice spilled over but I latticed the crust (from a store bought pack), brushed it with milk and sprinkled sugar on top.

Cinnamon Raisin Bread I

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2002
Oh my word is this bread simple to make and DELICIOUS! I've already made two batches this week. Just for any one who wants to know, this recipe can be halved and still get two hearty loaves out of it. When halving the recipe I altered it a bit though: I kept 1 c. water for the yeast, I kept the 1/2 c. white sugar (with dry ingredients), I added 3/4 c. raisins, not quite 4 c. flour, almost all of the 3/4 c. sugar and all 2 tsp. cinnamon (mix to be sprinkled inside of bread). Also, my oven runs hot so I set it for just over 300º baked for 30 minutes, lightly buttered the tops and shut off the oven and let both loaves sit in there for like 10-15 more.

If I could give this recipe more than 5 stars I would!!! I made this for my family (including Mom & Dad) so I tripled the recipe and it turned out PERFECT! I didn't change a thing and everyone loved it.

Baked Apples

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2002
I only gave this recipe a three because after 15-20 minutes, the apples were still barely soft and I like mine kind of mushy which REALLY detracted from the potential of a baked apple. Also, after reading other people's suggestions to this recipe I used some of their hints; I microwaved the brown sugar & butter then put it in the apple centers & added water at the bottom of the pan which made a weird & very watery (not syrupy) concoction & raisins. I'll definately try the recipe again but won't microwave the b. sugar & butter first & I'd bake it a lot longer. Will let you know how it turns out. :-) Oh oh oh, also, I added 10+ raisins that had been soaked in the middle of the apple as well and those were yummy.

Cinnamon Rolls II

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2002
These were very good...my first time making them too. I rolled the dough a bit thinner, makes a bigger roll not so thick walled, sprinkled a cup of raisins (pre soaked)into one batch and pressed them lightly into the dough, then sprinkled a bit of cinnamon over top the raisins then sprinkled on the brown sugar/cinnamon mix. Also, I didn't think the original recipe made enough icing for 24 rolls so I added an extra cup of icing sugar and an extra ounce of cream cheese and extra milk. ENJOY!

Absolute Mexican Cornbread

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2002
Any recipe that will make my 4 year old go "Mmmmmmm" is a winner with me! *LOL* I only wanted to make half a recipe which turned out great though I must say though that I totally changed up this recipe. A few changes on purpose -- added 1 cup of cheddar instead of 1/2 Monterey Jack and no chiles and a few changes on accident -- forgot to halve the 4 eggs, 1 c. cheese, 4 tsp. b. powder and 1/4 salt. BUT IT STILL TURNED OUT PERFECT!!!!! Also, when halving the recipe, it only needed to bake about 50 minutes. Next time I'll make the recipe the "right" way (with a little less butter maybe) but I'll keep my alternate recipe on hand as well. I rate this recipe 5 stars because of the way my family gobbled it up, because of how easy and flexible the recipe turned out to be.

Egg Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2002
My family REALLY liked this. We substituted bacon for the sausage (just because of preference) and it was SO good! As we discussed it though, next time we'll probably add a few extra eggs and maybe toss the mix around a bit just so there aren't so many crusty bits of bread otherwise this recipe is a keeper!

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2002
I LOVE the mall pretzels which is why I tried this recipe. It's not quite like "her's" but they're really good. I don't put as much sugar or flour and after they've baked I've either put on melted butter or sprinkled sugar & cinnamon atop. I think I read someone's review that these aren't too good the day after...I have to agree but who wants to leave some for the next day?? *LOL* I've made these for friends, family, gifts etc. and made sure they got them the same day. Very good recipe.
