I love, love, love to cook! I almost love cooking more than eating. I love to make a meal that is absolutely delicious, but is also visually appealing.I am an athlete, so I also run so that I can enjoy the food that I prepare.
My favorite things to cook
I love making entrees and desserts! I love trying new recipes. I'll usually make it according to the recipe the first time I make it, and then the next time I do my own version.
My favorite family cooking traditions
As long as I can remember the kitchen has always been where the action was, and still is, when we're together as a family, or if we're having friends over.
My cooking triumphs
I've won several blue ribbons for my cooking. Several at an ad agency I used to work at for desserts that I made, and then at my current job I took first prize for my White Chili and for my homemade salsa.
My cooking tragedies
A molten chocolate cake recipe that just never set up. Finally I took it out of the oven and we had "liquid" chocolate for dessert. It was still tasty, but it didn't look quite like the photo with the recipe I followed.

Quinoa Salad with Mint, Almonds and Cranberries
I loved this recipe! I added 2 cooked, diced chicken breasts and it made the perfect entree for a warm summer evening! I will be making this again, and again!!

Witches' Brew
Ok, I loved this idea, not the recipe, that's why I only gave it 4 stars. I changed it considerably to get it to work. The recipe, as is, produces a popsicle-like consistency for the hand. It didn't hold up, and when I tried to remove the hand from the rubber glove the fingers broke off. I rigged up a method to get the fingers to stay put for "display" by using toothpicks to stick the fingers back in place. Here's what will make this work way better: 1) use colored water with the same amounts given. The water will freeze completely and hold up. 2)I would suggest making it 3-4 days in advance to give it plenty of time to freeze, 3) Allow 10-15 minutes time to remove the hand from the glove. It takes awhile and a steady hand, 4) Lastly, and MOST important - use a LARGE rubber glove. I used a medium one that fits my hand, but it looks wimpy. A large one would produce a better effect. Next Halloween, I'll make it with the revisions that I've indicated above for a more satisfactory result.

Pumpkin Turkey Chili
I made this recipe over the weekend and it was pretty good. I made a few additions for a more flavorful entree: 1) I cooked about 1-1/2 lb. of turkey sausage b/c it seemed like it needed more meat, 2) I sauteed the vegies in bacon grease for added flavor, 3) I added about 3 c. of chopped butternut squash and 3 medium hot chopped green chilis (and omitted the chili powder). Very tasty overall!
