Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2011
These are really yummy! And I'm a cookie snob, so that's saying a lot. I followed other reviews and added some salt, extra vanilla and some baking powder. The only thing I screwed up was putting the nuts in after I toasted them before they had a chance to totally cool, which melted some chips and gave the dough an "off" color! DUH! I won't do that again! They were still great though, try them! :-)

Rosemary Roasted Cashews

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2012
I've been making these for years. My brother LOVES them, as does everyone! I've tried increasing the butter, but it just makes them greasy and they never fully dry, so don't do that! But I do recommend increasing the rosemary if you love it as much as I do!

Spring Biscotti

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2012
I had my doubts about this because I've used an old Italian biscotti recipe for the business that I own, no other recipes were anywhere near as delicious.....but this one was fantastic! I will need to change a few minor things, but as written it makes a mighty tasty biscotti with a great texture! many thanks!

Tiramisu II

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2011
Tasty! I cut the recipe in half and made 4 little individual ones in these clear ramikin-type things I have. I couldn't for the life of me find lady fingers, and the Italian market was closed, so I used pound cake cut into small cubes, and it was still amazing! I topped it w/the cocoa powder, then i put a little biscotti cookie sticking in the side of the bowl with a fresh strawberry cut and fanned around the cookie. My hubby and sons loved it! Thank you!

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2011
Amazing chili, EVERYONE loves it, I've made it many times now and have even made it for company. It is a bit spicy so I don't feed it to my little one, but the adults love it, this is my only chili recipe now. (Don't tell my mom). :-)

Guyanese Lime Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2012
We really loved these, a grown-up cookie with a nice flavor. I'm going to make some more today, but I'm going to double the lime zest, I think it needed a bit more of the citrus tang, since the nutmeg is so powerful. Lovely recipe though, thank you for sharing! :-)

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2011
I have a cupcake business and this is the recipe I use, except I leave out the raisins. EVERYONE loves them, they are my most popular flavor. I make them with the "whipped cream cheese" frosting from this site, delish!

Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2011
I have a cupcake business and this is one of the frostings I use on carrot cake... it's fabulous! Just make sure you whip the heavy cream VERY FIRM. Then I fold it in the best I can with a spatula, then I quickly whip it with the hand mixer for just like 30 seconds to make sure it fully incorporates, it's great!

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2011
very good. I doubled the sauce and tripled the meat, Using 2 lbs hamburger and 3 pounds italian sausage (two hot, one sweet) doubled the ricotta mixture (my fav part) and didn't boil the noodles but just soaked them in hot water for 30 mins and let them cook in the lasagna. Let it cool for 30 mins before serving. My hubby, brother-in-law, father-in-law and both sons loved it. I had enough sauce left to freeze and use for a quick spaghetti night later in the week. :-)

Grilled Tamarind and Orange Glazed Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2014
This was very flavorful and delicious! We love big flavors so I actually added MORE of the herbs de' provence (even though other reviews said to cut it back, we loved it with more) and I used tangelos instead of oranges since they are in season and so yummy! don't be shy with the sriracha, the glaze was still a bit on the sweet side even with 4 big squirts of it....... we had it over couscous with a salad and it was phe-nom-nom! will def make again....... :)

Salted Peanut Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2012
My family enjoyed these. I love salty/sweet and even though I used salted peanuts I felt the salt level was a little low. Next time I would sprinkle a little fleur de sal or something. Otherwise good!

Marcia's Famous Sticky Buns

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2012
As written, it's not too fabulous. The nut topping was very tasty though. I need to read some of the reviews and make changes. Loved the ease of this though, just didn't love the overall flavor.

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: May 30, 2011
The dough itself is pretty good, but the recipe as written needs lots of changes. For one, 12 triangular scones make for scones that are WAAYYY too big, these need to be in either two discs cut into 12 scones EACH, or just rolled into 24 round scones. Also, the flavor is quite bland and I recommend adding either lemon zest with lemon extract, or orange zest with orange extract. Maybe finely diced strawberries or blueberries on top of that. PLUS they took way longer to cook than written, and I have a brand new calibrated oven so I know that's not the problem. After they had cooked at least 20 mins I ended up cutting them in half and putting them back in, and they still cooked another maybe 10 to 15 mins. Honestly I think they could have used few more mins too. OH also, sprinkle a little coarse sugar on top for a nice crust. --Different people like different things and perhaps in certain parts of the country these are the way scones are, here they are smaller, more flavorful and just a bit different. THank you for the recipe! :-)

Mascarpone Stuffed French Toast with Peaches

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2012
well french toast is always great..... but we were a little disappointed with this. First of all, prob my fault, the peach sauce didn't need that 1/2 cup of sugar. Taste the peaches first. Then, cutting down and trimming those rolls.... forget it. i wont do that again! the mascarpone mixture was, unfortunately, nothing rememberable. very sad that this was overshadowed by the amazing pecan bacon that i made as an accompaniment. glad so many of you enjoy this, but we will keep looking for "our" french toast recipe. :-)

Lemon Lover's Pound Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2012
The packed slices of this cake for my family to enjoy with our starbucks coffee during a long drive out of town. The cake was "good" but I felt more vanilla than lemon. I did not get much lemon flavor, although I added extra zest and extract. The glaze, however, had a lovely lemon punch and gave the cake the zing it needed.
