I care for disabled individuals as well as elderly individuals with Alzheimers and Dementia. I love my job, my husband, family, in-laws, my cat, rocks and plants. For someone my age, I think I've got things pretty well ironed-out. At least for now. :)
My favorite things to cook
I absolutely LOVE to bake, especially custards like flan and creme brulee. I also really enjoy making breads, which I've done by hand until I got a bread machine for Christmas. I love to BBQ, but I'm still getting the hang of it (my poor, patient husband). I'll try to cook pretty much anything that sounds good at least once, and if I screw it up then I guess oh well.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making flan for Cinco de Mayo. Most people see it as a drinking holiday; my father and I salivate of the menu possibilities.
My cooking triumphs
I succeeded at cooking perfect shrip and lemon meringue pie my first time. I don't really know if that's hard, exactly, but I'll just brag anyway. Also, my home-created stir fry sauce. To die for!
My cooking tragedies
In cooking school we had a test on blueberry muffins, and I got a D. A freaking D on muffins! It was so hard not to cry as I handed the flat, lumpy, blue and yellow clumps over to my chef. I think he knew it, too. Blast.
