About this Cook
Live on a small ranch w/husband, son and daughter. Have a great garden, fruit trees, all kinds of animals. Love my fresh eggs and will soon be trying my hand at cheesemaking. The goats have to kid first.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook anything in my big old farmhouse kitchen, especially breads. I love to bake and can. I also like creating my own new recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My children stand on chairs across the counter from me and watch while I cook. It's like our own little cooking show.
My cooking triumphs
Gosh. I had to make homemade mayonaise on the spur of the moment on Thanksgiving eve. First thing that came to mind.
My cooking tragedies
My very first cheesecake. While in college, I made it for a boyfriend. I forgot to turn down the oven after the initial high temp setup. Needless to say, it was burned. The boyfriend, jerk, threw it out on the driveway!

Breakfast Kolaches
These were great. If you don't have a bread machine, you have to use two packets of yeast. I filled with scrambled eggs, cheese and jalapenos, made them into little, or not so little, balls and baked. Rancheros all the way!

Crustless Cranberry Pie
Super yummy way to use cranberries. Didn't have walnuts so I used chopped almonds (didn't have sliced). Next time, and there will be a next time, I will just forgoe the nuts completely. It's good enough on it's own. Might add a little orange zest. You must serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. My entire family, young kids too, loved it.

Chicken Chimichangas with Sour Cream Sauce
OMG! If I could give this 10 stars I would. PLEASE use the 3 c. of water and let it cook down. Those of you who didn't have no idea what you're missing. The sour cream sauce was so incredible we put it on rice as a side dish. I did take another poster's advice and baked them at 425 for 15 mins to eliminate some fat. So amazingly good. My family no longer needs to go out to our favorite Mexican restaurant, this is that good. Followed the recipe as printed and will serve again and again!
