About this Cook
Live on a small ranch w/husband, son and daughter. Have a great garden, fruit trees, all kinds of animals. Love my fresh eggs and will soon be trying my hand at cheesemaking. The goats have to kid first.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook anything in my big old farmhouse kitchen, especially breads. I love to bake and can. I also like creating my own new recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My children stand on chairs across the counter from me and watch while I cook. It's like our own little cooking show.
My cooking triumphs
Gosh. I had to make homemade mayonaise on the spur of the moment on Thanksgiving eve. First thing that came to mind.
My cooking tragedies
My very first cheesecake. While in college, I made it for a boyfriend. I forgot to turn down the oven after the initial high temp setup. Needless to say, it was burned. The boyfriend, jerk, threw it out on the driveway!

Marshmallow Buttercream Frosting
Incredibly sweet and decadent! I used this as the filling for homemade twinkies and it was fabulous. I used the Mamon (Sponge Cakes) recipe on this site along with my twinkie pan and made the best "twinkies" in the world. I'm actually going to make a cake and use this as an old fashion icing, just on the top with fruit to cut the sweetness a little. Some reviewers posted that is was too sweet but that's the point of frosting, right? My husband ate it right out of the bowl. Very good and will use again.

Mamon (Sponge Cakes)
AMAZING! I used this recipe, as is, to make homemade twinkies. I used the Marshmallow Buttercream Frosting recipe on this site and pumped it into the "twinkies" after they cooled. Made at least 4 dozen. My kids were over the moon. I have a twinkie pan but I think a muffin pan would work fine too. Next I'm going to make this as a layer cake, fill the layer with a strawberry compote and then use the same Marshmallow Buttercream Frosting recipe for the top. Definitely a keeper. By far the best sponge cake I've ever had.

Breakfast Kolaches
These were great. If you don't have a bread machine, you have to use two packets of yeast. I filled with scrambled eggs, cheese and jalapenos, made them into little, or not so little, balls and baked. Rancheros all the way!
