Pepper-Honey Cedar Plank Salmon

Reviewed: May 27, 2009
If you enjoy salmon, you'll love this. I made it for company last weekend and I received the 5 stars. My wife and I eat ALOT of fish, especially salmon. I'm not sure that we've ever had a better fish recipe outside of a fine restaurant. Run, don't walk to the store to get the cedar planks and other ingredients, and try this recipe. You'll thank me for that advice.

Wisconsin Slow Cooker Brats

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2008
I'm a authentic cheesehead and have been making brats for this way for years. The only difference is that I cook the brats in a 4 quart pan on the stovetop with the same ingredients, sans ketchup, and boil them for about 15-20 minutes. After grilling the brats, they can be returned to the simmering pan of liquid until ready for serving. The only reason I didn't give this recipe 5 stars is that in using the slow cooker, it takes about 3 hours 40 minutes longer. When I want brats, I want them now.

Tater Crisp Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2007
Great and SIMPLE recipe. I used eggs instead of melted butter and baked the chicken on a jelly roll pan on a rack. Turned the chicken after 30 minutes and baked for 30 minutes longer. Could not have been more crisp or moist, even if I had soaked it in a brine fried it in oil.

California Bean Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2006
This is too bland for our taste and just ok. Not nearly as good as the Avocado Salsa recipe, also on this site, which has similar ingredients.

Delicious Angel Hair in Tomato, Tuna and Olive Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2006
We do not particularly like canned tuna, so I used grilled, marinated tuna instead. Only other changes are that I used fresh basil and added 1 tsp. red pepper flakes. The flavor is unique and very good. I can't quite bring myself to rate the recipe 5 star, but it is a strong 4 star.

Lavender Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2005
Thanks for the recipe, Angel, but dried lavender is almost impossible to find in our area, to say nothing of fresh lavender. The recipe is just ok with the dried lavender. I'll keep searching.

Baked Cream Corn

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2004
OK, so it adds a few more calories, but I add bread crumbs to top off the dish and spray the top with a buttery Pam spray. Sometimes you just can't make a dish toooo good.

Avocado Salsa

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2004
Everybody who tries this salsa asks for the recipe. The only changes I make are to omit the red pepper and substitute chopped roma tomatoes. I also chop bottled jalapeno slices and add a little of the juice. Great recipe!

Ali's Amazing Bruschetta

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2004
By all means, spray or brush olive oil on the bread and grill at 425 degrees for 10 minutes prior to coating with the tomato mixture and you have a real winner. We've had this recipe many times with family and friends alway recieve compliments.

Thai Cashew Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2004
This is really good and easy. I bought some of the ingredients at an Asian food store and received some great tips from a Thai employee. So be careful and inquisitive relative to the fish sauce that you use. Some are salty and some are not so salty. I used a not-so-salty version but still had too much salt for our family's taste. Next time I'll cut down on the soy sauce. All in all, a keeper.

Avocado Dressing II

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2003
The 2 star rating may be generous. The onion soup mix makes the dressing WAAAAAY too salty. I can't believe it's only 327 grams of sodium. Also turns out very thick and tan in color, more like a chip dip than a salad dressing. I added about 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 1 teaspoon of sugar to try and save it. I was the only one didn't like it at all. It's going in the reject pile.
