Easy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2010
Really good. The only thing I changed was the sauce for the top of the meatloaf. After I tasted it using the called for measurements, it had too much mustard taste so I added more brown sugar.

Brown Sugar Smokies

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2009
Such an easy recipe, but absolutely the easiest dish I've ever taken to a potluck. Had so many compliments on this dish and requests for the recipe. Almost hate to admit how simple the recipe is. This is a dish kids and adults both love. I did cook longer so the brown sugar would melt, but if you cook too long it turns into a hard tough inedible coating so watch very carefully if you are cooking longer than the recommended time.

Fried Cornmeal Mush

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2008
My girls love fried mush from Bob Evans and now we can make something similar at home for so much less. Great recipe, but definately boil part of the water and stir the cornmeal into the remaining water (cold) and slowly add to boiling water. Stir, stir, stir for no lumps.

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2005
After I read the reviews I thought this sounded like a great way to use ground beef in a different way. We liked it okay. My girls wouldn't eat it after just one taste. My husband ate it because he was really hungry. Same for me.... I thought it tasted like meat loaf made into balls. The gravy was also just ok.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2005
Everyone loved these cookies. My husband is very picky about chocolate chip cookies (too many chips), but he thought these were great. Easy too!

Pan-Fried Asparagus

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2004
Since I had never had asparagus I did not know what to expect in the taste, but the recipe was easy to prepare. I don't know if I cooked it too long or the heat was too high (medium), but it turned out a little soft, but all in all not too bad.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2004
While I'm not a big fish fan, I found this very tasty. My husband loved it and thought it was a great way to fix probably any fish. The fish was flaky and tender and the topping was crusty and good. Very easy to fix too!

Bacon and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2003
This recipe tastes great and is so easy to make my husband made it to take to a sleigh ride party he and the kids went to! If the soup isn't as thick as you would like when done, I always add a little bit of mashed potato flakes to thicken. Highly recommend to everyone!

Quick and Easy Monkey Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2002
I am only giving this recipe 4 stars due to the fact that I too did not like the clumps of brown sugar/butter. I prefer a more gooey bread and have had it that way in the past. Every time I have tried to make Monkey Bread I have not had much success, but this was closer than any other I have tried. I didn't have time to read all the reviews before I made the recipe, but I too agree that cutting the rolls into 4 pieces and dipping them in butter would work out better than pouring the butter over the mixture in between layers. I even double the amount of butter because I thought the mixture looked dry before I baked it and it still turned out clumpy and crunchy. I think there is too much of the brown sugar/butterscotch mixture also. But I can't wait to try the recipe again, as it did have an excellent flavor and will get better each time.

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: May 22, 2002
I was called to make snacks for my daughters pre-school class at the last minute (a couple of hours). I didn't have a whole lot on hand to prepare anything, so I turned to All Recipes.com and found this wonderful recipe. My daughters (3 & 5) even helped. I only had egg substitute but they still turned out great. Instead of rolling into balls and dropping in the cinnamon mixture, I dropped by teaspoons onto the cookie sheet and sprinkled the cinnamon/sugar mixture on top. They won raves from everyone. The kids loved them and the teachers even asked for the recipe! I agree on the 375 degree oven for 8-10 minutes. My husband agreed these were the best cookies ever. Thanks for sharing the great recipe!

Scalloped Potatoes and Pork Chops

Reviewed: May 15, 2002
I agree that one hour was not enough time for the potatoes. I covered the dish hoping that would help cook the potatoes a little longer, but I still ended cooking them an extra 30 minutes, uncovering in the last 20 minutes. I don't know if it was the covering of the dish but the milk did not cook in completely and the potatoes were still pretty milky. Overall good taste but I think I will add flour in with the potatoes next time to try to thicken it up.

Classic Cabbage Rolls

Reviewed: May 5, 2002
I don't think cabbage rolls are ever a quick to fix dinner, but this was quite simple. I used brown rice and pureed diced canned tomatoes for a more tangy sauce. It was great! I did cut a v-type cut at the bottom of the cabbage leaves to remove the tougher part of the leaf. Well worth the effort.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: May 5, 2002
My husband and I both thought this tasted great. My kids aren't keen on this kind of food so I really couldn't rate it on the kid friendly level. I didn't have any green peppers to add but it still had plenty of flavor. Delicious and fast!

Stuffed Mushrooms IV

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2002
My husbands family get togethers are always an aggrevation for me. I never know what to take and then usually end up taking home more than half of what I brought (after it has set out all day) and throwing it away. I took these and everyone raved! I substituted sausage, used seasoned bread crumbs and put swiss cheese x's across the tops. I also used a mini chopper to grind the sausage finely. This really made the recipe simple, because I did not have to stand over the sausage chopping with a spatula to keep it from clumping into big pieces. 5 giant stars from me and my husbands super picky family!
