Ingrid's Caesar Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2012
Overall very good. Followed recipe exactly except using 2 tbsp gorgonzola instead of blue cheese dressing and it tasted great. My only problem is that it does not incorporate well with the lettuce - you have to use a lot of it to make it even. I tried mixing it in and leaving it in the fridge for 1 hour and this time the lettuce had soaked up more of it but oddly tasted blander. Still working on that part.

African Sweet Potato and Peanut Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2011
This soup is great, a little too sweet for me. Not sure what the sweetness is coming from but will try to reduce the peanut butter to see if it makes a difference.

Vegetable Lo Mein

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2011
Overall very good but the honey - despite adding less than advised- is overpowering and giving it an odd taste. Will try without it next time.

Mujaddara Arabic Lentil Rice

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2011
Came out great but a little too salty. I added a little allspice and I would highly recommend sauteing the onions for longer - until they turn brown preferably. it takes around 30 min but the taste is incomparable.

Authentic Kicked-Up Syrian Hummus

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2011
I tried this twice and the second time followed the directions exactly and it still came out far too dry and thick. I added some hot water and extra olive oil, and it didn't help much. Hummus is supposed to be soft and creamy. The taste is ok, not amazing.

Ethiopian Cabbage Dish

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2011
Very good dish, but still a little bland, despite doubling the spice. Maybe next time I'll triple it or add less of the vegetables.

Easy Vodka Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2011
Came out really well with the changes that ppl recommended. I forgot the garlic but added only one can tomatoes, added dry basil, oregano and parsley, 1.5 teaspoons sugar. Next time I make it I will add a little less sugar and maybe half the heavy cream since it came out too watery and needed a much longer cooking down.

Moroccan Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2011
This came out much better than I thought it would but since I used different spices, I will only rate 4 stars. Changes I made: ras el hannout instead of garam masala. No cardamon seeds. 1.5-2 times the measurements for spices. 2 extra cups water. I didnt know you have to sort of "half mesh" it, so i blended it too fine, but the taste was still great, it is quite rich though, so I think its more a main than just soup :)

Roasted Balsamic Cauliflower

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2011
Mine came out ok, and after reading reviews I can see what could have been done better. I should have marinated (not mentioned in the recipe), added a little more oil and left the garlic whole (finely chopped garlic 20 min on high definitely burns and becomes unsavory). I will try it again this way and see what happens!

Spicy Indian Dahl

I love this soup! Easy to make and delicious. Only thing I do different is adding more water to make it more "soupy".

Asian Salmon

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2011
Cooked this yesterday, and it really was amazing. Changes to my version: Doubled the ingredients except the onion. did not put olive oil, since salmon is a very oily fish and any oil usually makes it distasteful. Added same amount of fresh ginger as garlic. Cooked for 20, broiled for 10 min in the sauce. Broiling gave off a burnt smell due to the finely chopped onion and i was worried it would burn but it didnt. Maybe next time I will leave chunks of onion in the marinade and remove them during cooking the sauce was not thick bot we dipped bread in it and just licked our fingers!

Baingan Bharta (Eggplant Curry)

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2011
The dish was delicious, no doubt, but there are some problems: 1 eggplant adds almost nothing at all - certainly not enough for 4-6 servings. I had to use 3 eggplants and even though I only doubled (not tripled) the rest of the ingredients, the spice and taste of garlic and ginger overwhelmed the meal. However, the end product still shows enough promise to try some alterations next time.
