I made this today for me and my roomie since I had all the ingredients. I pretty much followed the recipe as is except for a couple of things.
Used a pound of ground meat. Replaced the green chiles and used a can of Rotel tomatoes with green chiles. I didn't drain the can of Rotel before adding it to the meat so the meat was a little juicy (but still good). I seasoned my meat while it was cooking instead of adding it at the end. I used salt and garlic powder instead of garlic salt. Tasted the mixture and noticed that it was a little bland so I added more seasonings along with some Cumin and around a teaspoon of sugar to cut that tomato bitterness and that seemed to give it a great flavor. Did not have Monterrey Jack cheese, so I used a Mexican blend. I also didn't add the egg. I used a 9 x 13 pyrex and like some suggested, I baked the bottom half of the crust for about 7 minutes before adding the mixture and topping it off with the rest of the biscuits.
All in all, it came out great and the roomie complimented me on it and he never does that. Next time I'll only use 1 pound of ground beef cause it made more than I thought it would.
