About this Cook
I'm an avid cook, chemist, gardener, hiker, traveler, decorator, Dave Matthews Band fan and wife. :)
My favorite things to cook
Anything new for my husband. I'm picky, he isn't. He will eat anything.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother taught me everything I know about cooking and entertaining. Now that she is unable to cook for the holiday dinners, the torch has been passed to me and I couldn't be more proud!
My cooking triumphs
Pulling off an entire Thanksgiving dinner with only the help of my 4 year old niece.
My cooking tragedies
The Christmas turkey and the digital thermometer that read 180 degrees. When I cut it, it was bloody! Luckily, there was enough time to stick it back into the oven. I don't trust digital thermometers any more!

Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker
I have never had much luck with my slow cooker. It's a couple years old and only produced burnt meals. I set it on the lowest setting and this always happens. I was very hesitant to make this in the slow cooker, but I tried it anyway. At five hours in, on low, my 7bl roast was reading 220 degrees! I hadn't flipped it yet! So, I flipped it and turned the slow cooker off, it was still very warm. The flavor is delicious. I used red Hawaian sea salt from Earth Fare and it wasn't too salty at all! Very easy, very tasty!

Lemon Cream Cheese Frosting
I'm terrible at making frosting, but this one worked. I followed the recipe exactly, and it came out very stiff, exactly what I wanted. The cream cheese flavor is still there, and it's super yummy!
