Stuffed Shells II

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2002
I have to say this recipe was absolutely wonderful! I have only made stuffed shells maybe 3 or 4 times, and always just used spaghetti sauce. Because I have never like can tomatoes in anything I made, they always seem to overpower a dish, and all I taste is tomato. But this blew me away, oh so good! The only thing is I had half the sauce left over, could of easily used another box of shells. This was absolutely delish!

Excellent! I added more veggies, green beans, corn and potato. Next time I will add mushrooms and chopped, sauteed leeks. This was the best pot pie I've ever tasted.

Easiest Ever Fruit Cobbler

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2003
This is very, very good! It's not too sweet. And the batter comes out moist. In fact, when I first took it out, I wasn't sure is was done. Because all I've ever had was my mom's cobbler, and I NEVER liked it. Her's was dry, very dry, like she made a cake and added fruit, blech (sorry mom). I think this might be good served with cream, or vanilla ice cream. If this is what fruit cobbler is supposed to taste like, I'll be making it often. Yum!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2002
I wasn't able to follow this recipe, since I didn't have the soup and onion mix. But I wanted to add a tip that makes cooking in a crockpot SO much easier. Line the crockpot with a Reynold's oven cooking bag, Turkey size, or smaller depending on the size of your crockpot. Cooking time is the same. Then the best part, clean up. Just remove the ingredients, lift out the bag, and your done! The crockpot remains clean.

Aunt Teen's Creamy Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2002
Really good. Usually when I try to make fudge, it's either grainy or doesn't set up. This set up in 2 hours. And it's very good.

Spicy Vegetable Beef Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2002
My husband is a soup fiend, so I made this. I have always HATED soup, but I tried this and was really surprised. It has the best flavor. I did add more garlic and onions, potato, and used beef boullion cubes since I didn't have the can broth. Also, I used the end of some beef I had on the bone, and added it right in with the beef as it simmered. I simmered it 3 hours prior so it would be tender. I really think doing that along with using the beef bone is what made it so delicious. My husband had 3 bowls! And my 15 month old even loved it.

Creamed Chicken for Biscuits

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2002
This was very good. Taste very close to the chicken and biscuit recipe at my favorite restaurant. I did cut way back on the amount of butter though, only used 2 T. and only 1/2 t. of Lawry's seasoned salt, instead of 1 t. salt. Also, I used half milk and half cream. Still VERY good!

Garlic Green Beans

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2002
Excellent beans. I added chopped onion, sauteed with the garlic. Who would think just a few simple ingredients, would make green beans taste so good? The combination of the Parmesan cheese and garlic, just gives a wonderful flavor. This one goes in my recipe box.

This is what muffins are supposed to taste like, excellent. I want to suggest that you will want to use muffin papers. I had none, and the muffins crumbled when I tried to remove them.

Italian Style Meatloaf I

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2002
This is excellent meatloaf! Truly the best I've ever had! I did add chopped and sauteed onions, garlic and leeks. I left the foil off as suggested by other posts, and it was done in an hour. Instead of putting my meatloaf in a loaf pan, I form it on a cookie sheet. Makes it much easier to cut into slices and remove. My family didn't think the herbs were overpowering as others said. I even used Italian seasoned bread crumbs. This is no ordinary meatloaf, it's superb!

American Lasagna

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2003
I love Lasagna, and this was the best I've had. I did leave out the salt though, Parmesan cheese is salty enough. I increased the garlic, and added 1 t. of Worcestershire to the sauce. And mushrooms. This is the first Lasagna I ever made that actually held while I took it out of the pan. So glad I tried it. Although next time I think I will go with the suggestions, and add 1 can tomato sauce. It was just a tad dry.

Taco Seasoning I

Simply the best! I will never have to buy Taco seasoning again. I don't think you can get any closer to the store bought. But this tastes even better. At least you can control the heat and salt.

Fried Chicken with Creamy Gravy

Reviewed: May 13, 2002
OMG the gravy is to die for! I did one extra step, after coating the chicken I put the pieces on a rack so the coating could dry a little. And since I didn't have Paprika I substituted Lawry's seasoning. FINALLY I can now make fried chicken. It came out perfect! I have tried for years to make fried chicken, and the coating would always come off, I'd burn it. NOW I can have fried chicken at home and forget take out. Thanks Gina!!

Absolutely Ultimate Potato Soup

Reviewed: May 3, 2002
This TRULY is the best potato soup you could ever have. Rich, creamy, full of flavor. You won't find better in a can or at a restaurant. The only change I will make next time is I'll use leeks instead of onions. Simply because I think leeks in soup adds the most delicious flavor. You definetly should give this soup a try!

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2002
These are exceptionally good. Very similar to my mom's "baking powder biscuits", but these are moister then hers. I made the "creamed chicken over biscuits" recipe from this site to go with these. My 16 month old son loved it, he said mmmmm and clapped his hands. I cut out 6, and didn't get "Grand Biscuit" size as stated. I also only needed to use 3/4 c. milk instead of 1 c.. My mom says that the barometer affects how your biscuits turn out, (works the same with anything with yeast, such as bread) so, if it's raining or very humid, they won't rise as well. If it's hot and dry, they should rise beautifully. So I kind of go by that when I am adding the liquid and flour (amounts). After you've made enough biscuits, you can tell how their going to turn out by how the (uncooked) dough looks and feels. I was thinking about the post that said they turned out dry on the outside and moist inside, if they seem very hard, then I would think possibly, they were cooked at too high a temp. and/or were left in too long. Because my oven is very hot, I always turn it down by 25 degrees, and never assume that the time stated is going to be "perfect" for my oven, so I checked these after 10 minutes, and then watched them 2 to 3 minutes after. Anyway, you should enjioy these.

Abby's Super Zucchini Loaf

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2003
I had just gone to the Farmer's market and came back with zucchini, that I had no idea what to do with. I've never made it before but wanted to try it. My husband said of all the zucchini bread he's had over the years, this is the best. It's very moist and delish. And he said, I could enter it in a contest, it's that good. This does take some work to make, but it's worth it. If you've never had zucchini bread, or have always not liked it because of the dryness, you definetly should try this recipe.
